I've lived in Wildwood Manor for more than 25 years and I've never seen a snake until now.
I was walking on Rossmore and across from the forested bottom land and came across this fellow, a juvenile Eastern Ratsnake. According to the Maryland wild life department, "Eastern ratsnakes can be found in a variety of habitats, including farmlands, hardwood forests, forested wetlands, isolated urban woodlots and backyards. They do especially well in edge habitats and can climb trees. they are NON-VENEMOUS AND HARMLESS TO PEOPLE AND PETS, BUT WILL BITE IF YOU BECOME AGGRESSIVE WITH THEM. As its a juvenile, I wonder where Momma is?
