For those who couldn't attend our conf call mtg on 9-17, here are the
notes below and attached ...
Thank you so much to Sherry who took notes for us!
We were especially interested in capturing feedback on successes and
challenges of the event on the 16th. If you were not able to be on the
cal, but have feedback, PLEASE share your thoughts and I will add them
to the notes.
By sending the notes out to the Google group they are archived at our
group page. I am also thinking of putting them up on our website at a
"secret" / non-linked page and share that direct URL with new members
of our group when they join so they can get caught up if they wish.
take care

9-17-13, SNEP mtg via conf call
At the meeting: Leah, Shelly, Abraham and Sherry
Main Discussion was the Sonoma New Economy Event 9-16 at the Share
Exchange in Santa
Rosa.
There are two things moving forward here:
1. There are people who are well versed in PBI who are developing
relationships and
sharing processes that are working to get the word out in a political
way to the powers
who could make the decision to open a PB.
2. More of the general public need to get educated on this on a broad
scale so they will
stand up and speak in favor of PB to sway the powers to act for the public good.
a. There are people who should know about this who could be a great
help who have
connections, new ideas and opinions. These people would move into group 1.
The Event on 9-16-13
17 people attended some were new to the group. This was a reasonable
turnout since we
were late to get the word out on it. There were some new people who
were important for
Marc to meet.
The big success with this was all the infrastructure was set-up:
deciding the name Sonoma
New Economy Project, the website is up and running and having changes made to it
www.sonomaneweconomy.org, a new Facebook page was started and Tweets went out.
There are now more people on the mailing list.
Some things to consider for next time:
1. Getting the word out sooner.
2. Getting more people who are on Facebook to share the links with
their friends.
3. Having a process of what new people can do to get caught up on PBI
and SNE where
they can bring their gifts of service and connections to the group. What are the
action steps they can take to get involved?
4. Finding a way to address why young people 20 to 30 year olds are
not engaged. The
young people think this is old boring banking stuff? We know at PBI that “who
controls the money is who controls everything” so young people should be
interested.
a. Student Loans are a hot topic and large source of debt in the banking system
b. We need to get young people educated; they only know what they learned in
school or from their parents.
c. We need to cross-pollinate with different groups, including groups in the
younger demographic. Groups like Generation Waking Up and others.
d. We need to make it fun or provocative that draws young people, maybe at a
concert or a festival. Maybe endorsement by a person they relate to and trust or
something else that draws the demographic to listen.
