It all depends on how much money you want to spend.
For EMF detection there are several models of Mel-Meters which are
most useful
For video data you want several IR cameras which can go $40-$80 each
and a DVR system that can handle recording data from many cameras
simutaneouly
Flir Thermal Detectors go for a few thousand dollars
Parabolic Microphones with dishes and computer hookups can go for
$1000 as well
Nightshot Cameras by Sony are about $350
Full Spectrum cameras are new and very expensive

There are all out of reach for most groups since most are non-profit

Tom has summed that all up pretty good, not to throw a plug for any
one but for some good equipment and great prices you can find just
about anything from an individual item to full kits from ghost hunter
supply store. Anyone needing that info can contact me for the website.
I believe they are a team out of New Jersey that also sells equipment.
I have bought all my equipment from them and am extremely happy with
how fast they ship as well.

I have not found any use for a ghost box other than finding a AM
frequency that has no signal and turning it up real loud and throwing
it into a corner to create some white noise. When you set that to scan
you are constantly picking up bits of stations and it is impossible to
say that that is spirit contact. I paid 10.00 for mine and it makes a
great radio during storms. If you go to the ghost hunters web site
though they have a new real time evp recorder with play back coming
out in june or july. you might check that out if interested

Hey night owl, sony is always good, we use the olympus 3200 and 5200
series also. they are cheap and do a great job. There is speculation
that you don`t always want the best the cheaper one will produce in
itself a white noise that gives spirits a vehicle for communication. I
guess that it is what your budget will allow when you are self
supporting also, we actually have a mini cassette recorder still (we
don`t use it though) you`re not really supposed to reuse tapes so that
get expensive.

Ovilus1 is a handheld device that is preprogrammed with a dictionary
of 512 words, it was and is intended as a novelty device. The chances
acording to manufacture of a word being contectually correct are like
1 in 512 not so good when there are only 512 words preprogrammed into
the thing.

Hey Chickie, My wife and I have been really hitting some good
locations. We have caught some awesome stuff lately, from orbs passing
thru walls on adjoining hallways and coming out on the other side to
EVP`s that are intelligently answering us. We have recently just added
a full spectrum camera to our list of equipment, and it has paid off
on the first use. We got what seems to be an old image of a lady in a
mirror. We have been back to attempt to recreate the image but could
not so far. I hope that more investigators can get one of these. The
pictures are weird looking but sure show a different light. At night
you can use IR to get a picture without using the flash, thus
eliminating the possibility of false orbs. You do not catch dust or
any other orb causing debris, moisture as well. We have been posting
up on our web site as much as we can keep up. It is tiring to run a
business and ghost hunt as well. You can follow us on our web at
http://www.aftermidnightparanormalinvestigationteam.com. I`ll try to
keep up to date here as well. Russ

We are slowly beginning to find equipment being developed for
searching out evidence in spectrums that aren't visible to humans.
There are some new cameras being modified and produced that can take
pictures in UltraViolet and Infra Red spectrums. I'm looking foward to
hearing more about this technology.

I also saw a cool add-on for cameras that let's you take a full 360
degree photo - 1 photo the entire area around the camera

My kids' have this on their still digital .. under panaormic shots.
They can the entire viewing area in a 360 degree circle unless it is
on a full landscape setting. I thought it was the neatest thing. I
have Infrared filters on my DSLR. I like night images the best and the
infrared added to what we are able to see. Ultraviolet for the camera
sounds cool. Let me know how it turns out please.

I recently purchased the Moultrie i-65

http://www.moultriefeeders.com/productdetail.aspx?id=mfh-dgs-i65

It has a very impressive sensitivity with Infra Red Technology.

I have not had a chance to use it yet.

Hi. I have my own group here on NAPPN called Paranormal Taboo. I am
extending the researched base group out in our local community under
the same name. Our group, also going to be called Paranormal Taboo,
with all success will have monthly meetings, trainings, sessions,
hands on, and research presentations. Wish us success please :).

Name: Tom Stewart
I am case manager and investigator for R.I.S.E.U.P. Paranormal
(www.riseupparanormal.com) based in Rhode Island, USA
We are a group of scientific researchers who aim to assit familes with
issues involving the paranormal. These days that is mostly ghosts and
spirits. We use an open mind and try to find any natural causes or
sources for reported activity. In rare cases we are actually able to
validate the paranormal activity. We also enjoy educated others about
the things we know by conducting lectures around the community.
The group is made up of adults with degrees and/or career experience
in Historic Research, Archeaology, Geneology, Photography, Computers,
Electronics, Machinery, Construction, Communications and Psychology.

I have had the pleasure of helping out many families in need. I've
also been priveledged enough to be invited to investigate reknown
historic locations like Fort Adams and Belcourt Castle in Newport, RI
as well as Sprague Mansion in Cranston, RI.

It sounds like a wonderful group of people to be with. Some of our
local societies do not fit into any category except pathetic. It is
great to have people who truly want to investigate. I have experience
in two of the fields mentioned (psychology and photography). As, well
I do my own family tree and local historical events. I guess you could
say I am a jack of all trades and master of none. :) It is going to be
great working with you on NAPPN. Looking forward to your's and your
group's ideas. Melanie

Nice to meet up with your ideas on here Mike. I am an ordained
minister studying the field of demonology as well here in
Pennsylvania. 20 years seems like a lifetime to me. :) I just recently
started into this field about a year ago. And thanks to Chickie have
made strides since joining NAPPN last month. I have been an ordained
minister since 2008.
