Minutes from March 12, 2009 meeting

Hi everyone,

    Attached are the minutes from our last meeting on March 12, 2009. As you review the minutes please take time to consider which action you would like to work on so that you will know what sub-committee you would like to join.

   

    Here is the agenda for the next meeting on April 16, 2009: 1.Nancy Nylen will present to us the qualifications needed to become a Green Community. 2. We will review Action Points for increasing participation in the Green Power Program and form subcommittees to start working on these actions. This is a very important part of our work and needs our full attention and energy.  It is the way we can bring money into our community to move forward towards a greener city!

 

    Now seems like an appropriate time to start inviting community leaders to join our group.  Here is the list of people we have currently compiled:

    1. Hospital - Paul Hopkins (PR)

    2. School Superintendent - James Montepare

    3. N. A. Housing Authority - Jim __________(does anyone know his last name?)

    4. Mass MoCA - Eric Kearns (Jane)

    5. Small Business - John Law of Hoosic Bank;  Jane and Jeff Hudson from "Hudsons"

    6. Utility - Natl. Grid Customer Service rep. Joanne DeRose (Gail)

    7. United Way - Jim Caravan (Dale)

    8. Landlords - Dave Moressi

                         Eric Rudd (Jane)

    9. Faith Community - Rabbi Goldwasser (Jane)

 

    The names in red are people who have volunteered to invite those individuals to our next meeting. It would be helpful if others could volunteer to invite 1 - 2 people on this list.  Of course it's best if you know the person, but not necessary. If no one volunteers then I will have to assign people.  I'd rather not have to do that, so step right up and let me know who you will invite. Also, if you do attend a church in N.A. feel free to invite your congregation's leader.

 

    See you all on April 16 at 4:40 pm in the 3rd floor conference room of the N.A. library!

Hello Jane...

Here is Jim's info:  N. A. Housing Authority:  Jim Baldwin;  phone 663-5379; I could invite him.

I know Paul Hopkins, John Law, the Hudson's, Jim Montepare, and David Moressi; if you still need a contact person. 

Are you going to invite them all to the same meeting? 

Paul is kind of busy with the union issue right now. 

Jim Montepare is kind of busy with the school consolidation right now.

Hi Gail,

    Finally getting back to you on this.  Sorry for the delay.  Madeline (student intern) invited John Law.  If you could invite the others that would be great as no one else has stepped forward.

    Yes, we're inviting them all to the same meeting: our next on April 16th.  The idea is that after Nancy Nylen presents the info. on becoming a green community we can talk about how each of us could move N.A. closer to this goal.  I'd like to form committees and have people get to work. For those who can't join us on the 16th we'll invite them again to the May meeting.  I figure if they still can't make it then they're not that interested or already have ample on their plates.

Hi Kathy,

I saw your name and just had to write.  I think you are Annie Loui's friend whom she speaks glowingly of pretty much every time North Adams comes up which it does pretty often.  I am the cofounder of Topia Arts Center and the coowner of Topia Inn. I am getting this email because Topia Inn and Topia Arts Center are green - the Inn already built and being operated greenly and the Arts Center in planning phase.  I know Annie because I took a fellowship at UCI to get a masters in dance and technology and took Annie's brilliant Contact for Actors and am now starting to work on a theater project with her.  

I will be back in the Berkshires in June after I graduate and look forward to green discussions with you...
