Hi Green Group members,
Please take a couple of minutes to read about the solar project that MassMoCA is hoping to get a grant for.  It would be such an enormous boon to our community!  Then write to the decision makers listed below asking them to support the MassMoCA grant.  Once you've done that, pass this information along to everyone you know and encourage them to also write letters/emails.
Thanks,
Jane Herman

Dear MASS MoCA Members,
You may have read recently that MASS MoCA has proposed two projects that
are eligible for Economic Recovery Act funding.  Grant funding will be
highly competitive; if
you're inclined, we write to ask you to send a short letter or brief
email to the
following decision-makers to put in a good word on MASS MoCA's behalf.
Ideally  your letter or email would be just a few sentences and in your
own words.  Here  are a few talking points:
Solar Initiative
The first project is a major alternative energy program which would both
secure  significant solar-generated electricity for MASS MoCA and
simultaneously establish a national training center focusing on
large-scale, multi-building commercial photovoltaic installations.  The
training program would attract hundreds of facility managers, building and
wiring inspectors, chief financial officers, and alternative energy
entrepreneurs to North Adams for intensive training.  The grant would
also fund a very large rooftop solar array, which would supply
approximately one-third of MASS MoCA's energy needs for the next 25
years.  The initiative dovetails well
with Berkshire County's efforts to distinguish itself as a leader in
alternative
 energy technology and training.
Art Storage, Archive, & Logistics Facility
The second project would renovate an abandoned concrete tank in the middle
of our historic factory campus into an art handling, storage, and
archiving facility.   The facility would provide services to regional
not-for-profits at below-market  rates, which would be subsidized by
renting part of the facility at commercial rates to private collectors and
other institutions.
Both projects are important generators of jobs and substantial regional
economic
growth.  We would appreciate your endorsement and support of either or
both of
them.  We hope the names on the list (below) hear from a wide variety of
constituencies within the next couple weeks.

Hello all,

Jane, thanks for the great email on Chris Derby-Kilfoyle's behalf.  I just emailed all the people on this list, and I hope the rest of you can do the same.  This is really a great project that would bring a lot of prestige and renewable energy potential to the area.  Chris has worked really hard to get to this point, and we should support him as the community in making this really big project happen.

Hope you're all doing well!

    Morgan
