After following the instructions, I could not even start Thunderbird. So I was forced to start TB in safe mode to delete the "FireTray Plugin" and fix this issue. After that it started to work but it deleted all my email accounts and I had to do that chore all over again .

Note that FireTray addon is a must have. Most people don't actually mean to quit entirely like the default behavior is, when they say "close" to window. They sure expect thunderbird to run in background and notify of all new email arrivals. And FireTray deals exactly with this problem.

I am actually using Ubuntu 13.10, but this solution should work fine at least back to 12.04. Firetray is an extension for Firefox that makes it so you can minimize to tray on close, and minimize on startup (you'll see the Thunderbird window popup for a quick second, but it's hardly an issue). Then just add thunderbird to Startup Applications and when you login thunderbird will flash for a second then be minimized in your system tray. It also has full support for the default messaging menu so it doesn't create a secondary thunderbird icon.

Now for those that may have tried this in the past, I know that I tried Firetray a couple years ago and it wouldn't work at all, it had lots of bugs when used with modern Ubuntu, but the latest version seems to work flawlessly with Ubuntu (at least version 13.10, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with any other version).

Thunderbird is a steel roller coaster in the Thanksgiving section of Holiday World & Splashin' Safari amusement park in Santa Claus, Indiana. Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, the ride opened in 2015 as the eighth Wing Coaster in the world and the fourth in the United States.

Thunderbird is B&M's first launched coaster in sixteen years and their first launch coaster built in-house (The Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure uses a launch system supplied by the park). The Wing Coaster reaches a speed of 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and features the tallest vertical loop on a Wing Coaster.[1] Thunderbird had its first test run on March 8, 2015 and opened to the public on April 25, 2015.[2]

On July 24, 2014, Holiday World announced that they would be opening Thunderbird for the 2015 season. It would be the park's first major steel coaster, as well as the first launched wing coaster in the United States. Thunderbird would also be the first roller coaster at the park to go upside down.[3] The track and supports began arriving at the park the following week.[4] By October, the first two inversions were topped off.[5] The new trains were shown off during IAAPA 2014.[6] Then, the track layout was completed on December 2, 2014.[7]

Thunderbird officially opened on April 25, 2015. Prairie Farms Dairy released an ice cream flavor called "Thunderbird" to advertise the new ride. This flavor was a combination of vanilla ice cream with a touch of caramel and more spicy, roasted pecans.[8]

After loading in the station, the train moves forward and stops. Mist blows in front of the train and thunder sounds as the train launches from 0 to 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in 3.5 seconds by linear synchronous motors. The train immediately goes into a 140 feet (43 m) Immelmann loop. After the first element, the train then goes down its first drop into a 125 feet (38 m) vertical loop, the tallest vertical loop on a Wing Coaster, surpassing Wild Eagle at Dollywood.[9] After the vertical loop, the train crosses over the valley between The Voyage's second and third hills, goes through an overbanked turn, and then an overbanked elevated spiral in the mirrored direction. The train then goes through a zero-g-roll parallel to The Voyage. After several curves next to The Voyage's triple-down drop and spaghetti bowl, the train dips down into a barn (which is the keyhole) where it then curves left back into the barn by doing an inline twist, crossing over The Voyage's underground tunnels. Once the inline twist ends the train enters the brake run. From the brake run, the track makes a right turn to another set of brakes before entering the station. One cycle of the ride lasts about 1 minute and 18 seconds.

Thunderbird is located in the Thanksgiving theme section of the park along with The Voyage and it runs parallel and crosses over The Voyage twice: after the vertical loop and during the inline twist.[9]

Thunderbird is a Wing Coaster model manufactured by Swiss roller coaster firm Bolliger & Mabillard. It is Holiday World & Splashin' Safaris first major steel roller coaster. Thunderbird is the eighth Wing Coaster to be built and the fourth in the United States, the others being X-Flight at Six Flags Great America, Wild Eagle at Dollywood and GateKeeper at Cedar Point.[11][12] Thunderbird is the first Bolliger & Mabillard coaster to utilize an LSM launch. An earlier launched coaster, The Incredible Hulk roller coaster at Islands of Adventure, Universal Orlando, utilizes a pinch-wheel drive system that was designed exclusively for Universal Studios by Universal Creative.[13]

Thunderbird operates with two open-air steel and fiberglass trains, each with five cars of four seats each, with two on each side of the track. Each train holds 20 riders and the ride has a capacity of about 1,140 riders per hour. Because the seats are on the side of the track, a cantilevered steel arm is used to support the wings.[14]

Every launch requires 2.5 megawatts of power, with the energy being stored in electric generators with two massive 24,000-pound flywheel assemblies.[15] The launch system mechanics are located in a separate building known as Will Power. The name came from the park's former president Will Koch, who died in 2010.[16]

In 1620, as the Mayflower neared the end of its 66 days at sea, a mighty storm nearly capsized the ship, taking it hundreds of miles off course. As passengers and crew feared all was lost, an immense bird appeared in the sky. The thunderbird, whose wings created the thunder and eyes flashed the lightning of the powerful storm, rescued the ship by launching it through the sky to the New World.

I have used TB for years, no problems, it stopped, I have downloaded about a dozen versions from different sources and every time I try to open, I get: "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." HELP, please 159...@gmail.com

The first one talking of a file called exe.part. That would indicate to me you have a defective anti virus that is corrupting downloads, or you are trying to execute it before the download is complete. I have no idea which.

The second sounds like you have managed to download a corrupt windows installer package (see my last comments here) But I would not recommend using the MSI package anyway. It is really intended to corporate installs and lacks some install options the EXE has.

Since version 68, thunderbird has been a dedicated profile per installation, so you cannot simply install another version and hope it will work, it is likely not to locate a profile and instead create a new one. You have to use a specific method when trying to use an older version than has previously been installed.

re: it stoppedWhat stopped? We need a bit more information about what you mean by 'stopped'.Thunderbird would not launch, so never opened?Or Thunderbird opened but could not access any server?Did you get any error messages? If yes, what did they say?Did this 'stopping' occur after an update? Was that a computer update or a Thunderbird update etc?

In Thunderbird - I cannot answer these I no longer have the program on my computer and I cannot download/open a new one - I get the same msg each time "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

re :I cannot answer these I no longer have the program on my computer and I cannot download/open a new one - I get the same msg each time "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

But the message "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." just means Thunderbird cannot use the old profile for some reason. This is probably because you have 'tried a load of other versions'.

That statement would imply at this point there was nothing wrong with Thunderbird program and the profile was fully working, but you 'stopped receiving and sending emails' perhaps because 'Telus' email account needed to update server settings etc to comply with the mail provider (Telus) update. So, Thunderbird itself had not stopped.

Based on this, I have no idea why you suddenly started uninstalling and reinstalling various versions of Thunderbird, but due to dedicated profile pre installation, it sounds like Thunderbird is now confused hence why it cannot find a profile.

Whilst waiting for my response I need you to check out this information. The 'Telus' update is likely to be due to the following information:TELUS is migrating all customers to an upgraded email service. We are partnering with Google...

Have you followed their (Telus) instructions on migrating the account? If no, then you must do it now.Once the account is migrated you need to create a new existing mail account in Thunderbird. But we need to sort out Thunderbird first and then you can use the information also provided by Telus as set out below. At following link see section 'Interactive step-by-step guide for setting up your email app'Select device eg: Windows PCSelect program eg: ThunderbirdFollow instructions.
