Is there a way to put a drop shadow under an object? It's a text
object, and I don't want the shadow on the text itself (I know how to
do that) but on the text box to which I've assigned a fill. I want the
text box to float above the movie and be separated from it by the
shadow. I don't see anything in the filters gallery for that. Are
there some third party filters I can download somewhere?
thank you,
Jack

There is no automatic function for general drop shadows. It's easy to add it for text using the font panel, but for video clips you need to do some extra work.
One way to do it is to add a copy of the clip in a separate track and position it below the first one. You can then add some filters to the background clip to for instance blur it, make it darker and to remove the colors.
