You'll remember from the Newcastle meeting that we thought it would be
a good idea to try and put together some sort of NPM manual. The idea
behind the manual is to help us to agree and put together a set of
shared definitions of key concepts, help us to clarify methodology and
procedures and to collate the experience of this group in using the
NPM. The NPM is a work in progress so I'd guess that the manual will
need be updated from time to time as we learn more about the model.
I've offered to manage this production of the manual. Like everyone
else, I'm a bit strapped for time right now but I'd like to pick this
up again mid-summer. In the meantime I wondered if anyone interested
in being involved with the manual could let me know; we can form a
group and then divide up tasks once we start work.
Thanks!
Regards,
Shaun

I'm happy to help with this when the time comes - I'm doing lots of
work at present that tests out the model in different ways so
hopefully I can contribute usefully,

Hi Shaun, thanks for bringing this idea back to our attention. I would
be very interested in being part of this group. I think I mentioned at
Newcastle that I am involved in two proposals at the moment which aim
to use the model to study and facilitate ehealth implementation. I
think the manual will be very helpful for that work if it comes off
(and if not I will have learned lots anyway!). The time frame that you
are talking about sounds good to me.
All the best,
Anne
I too would be interested in this. Obviously, I'm involved in several of Frances' ehealth studies which use the NPM. However, I'm also hoping that we can use it as a framework within the evaluation of Keep Well. For those outwith Scotland, this is a national Scottish Executive funded initiative which utilises complex, community-based health improvement interventions with the modest aim of reducing inequalities in CHD (by 2010!). It is currently being delivered through general practices, with the aim that it is mainstreamed (or normalised) into routine practice. So, I think the NPM will b very pertinent.

Interested in contributing but currently feel that I need to focus on
analysis of data emerging from my PhD and therefore to some degree
need to hold the model lightly at present. I'll get back to you after
further discussion at my next supervision meeting but at minimum would
be happy to comment on drafts
Best wishes
