to Mt Rainier Nordic Patrol Reports
CHANGES TO GAR: 9AM AT EOC requested by the Park due to schedule change with gate remaining open for rest of season.
-Remind public: LNT - Pack it in, Pack it out.
(Lots of trash left around parking lots that had a related encounter on Sunday-see report)

Saturday:
Low visibility around Glacier Vista/Pan did not keep guests away as it was a Free Entry Day that was heavily advertised. Upper parking lot was mostly full before we arrived around 9:15am. Several groups attempted to summit, many only got to Ingraham Flats due to weather.
Encountered one large group (~30) gathering in the parking lot that went to Glacier Visita and they were warned by NPS staff in the parking lot that they would need a permit in the future.
Top 4th Crossing Pole was removed (pole at bottom 4th crossing trail, TBD who will remove it/when since it is along the road?)
After meeting in the parking lot around 2pm members of Nordic 1/2 went to Edith Creek for another ski lap.

Sunday
It snowed most of the day with about 2" of snow. Visibility was better and chose to stay around trees. Less busy in the park.
Ray and Tom J. (Nordic 2) removed Devils Dip to Canyon Y route ~40 poles with the SKED. They left 1 vehicle at Narada Falls and were shuttled up to Paradise to start.  The signs from the top of the route were removed at Paradise by Nordic 1 after patrolling/exiting from Edith Creek Basin up Valley Rd. Annie picked up the poles and put all of them into Narada Storage.
Nordic 1 went to Edith Creek Basin and Brian Carr reset the 2 Xs at the Myrtle Falls Bridge. A few of us checked the weather station and the ski dorm towards the end of the day.
Note: there were ski tracks that traversed the lower snowbridge when we arrived. There are 8 orange poles that the Winter Techs put up for the upper snow bridge reroute that we also reset.
We cached some OEC gear in EOC during the day then moved into garage storage after patrolling when it wasn't raining.

Other:
-We have 1 F350 truck that seats up to 6. It was filled with gas on Saturday.
-Gate was open 24/7 as of last Monday, but closed on Sunday (uphill 4pm, downhill 5pm) due to weather. I wish I had taken a picture Sunday morning, but there were cars parked all over in front of Old Station due to snow covering the lines.
-I left 4 patrol hats by radios to give the Winter Techs (Jennie, Jillian, Ryan, and Annie)
-Last Saturday 4/12 was NWAC's last forecast
-No SAR events
