Resending...
All,
Great weekend!! Lots of laughs and learning made for some fun times.
Saturday - The patrol divided up into two teams: one team of snowshoers reset poles& signs from Paradise to Reflection Lakes and back to Narada; the other team skinned up through the Edith Creek Basin up the base of Pan Point and then skied down through Dead
Horse. Whiteout conditions prevailed above 6K feet. All returned to the house and enjoyed a four-course meal of artichoke dip with crackers, followed by a charcuterie, a main course of lasagna, garlic bread and a choice between two salads and then a desert
selection. Many thanks to the team for the dinning experience and lively conversations.
Sunday - Red flashing Avy alert on the NWAC site and very wet conditions lead to a 10 am opening and 3pm close of the Longmire gate (Gate closed for uphill traffic at 1400). Conditions at Paradise varied between, rain, snow, sleet. Considering the conditions
and GAR inputs we decided to stay at Paradise and have PSAR conversations with guests as they entered the backcountry. Several guests had to be convinced that a "hike" to Camp Muir was not in their best interest and many guests were unprepared for the varying
weather conditions. The patrol divided into 3 groups of 3 with one group staying outside talking with guest while the other two warmed/dryed out in the JVC. Groups rotated every 30 minutes until we departed Paradise around 1300.
Have fun!!
Tom
