to Mt Rainier Nordic Patrol Reports
We had it all this weekend.
Saturday- Sunny and hot. Which meant a lot of people in the park. Team 1 (5 people) did a clockwise loop Paradise-Pan Point-McClure rock-Mazama Ridge-4th Cross. Team 2 (5 people) did the opposite. It was a T-shirt and shorts kind of day. Lots of people heading to Muir. Had many interactions, especially with showshoers looking for a good route that was more than Paradise-Pan. Everyone wanted to go big today.
The skiing down from McClure to Mazama was amazing with super carvable corn.

Sunday was a different story. Some small precip overnight. Colder weather and very overcast. With heavy fog around Paradise. After a big day on Saturday we kept it a bit more mellow. Team 1 (4 people) started at Narada and went out to Reflection Lake, then up to Inspiration Saddle and back down to Narada. Hitting some rain near the end. Took a snow depth reading on the road near Reflections for road crews (265cm). From there Team 1 drove up to Paradise to check on things where it was a mix of snow/rain.
Team 2 (4 people) started at Paradise and went up to Pan face, then over to Deadhorse. A large group of ~15 kids (maybe scout troop) have overnighted there and left early. Lots of snow caves that were barely deconstructed (see pic). Lots of deep holes and trash. Team 2 took on the heavy work of filling them in and cleaning up after the kids. Might have to remind people what it means to remove snow caves. It was a dangerous situation with so many holes.
House fully cleaned/swept/vaccumed
Aviation truck nearly full tank
Other truck, just over half a tank. Should be filled up next patrol.

Action: I could not find any sign in sheets and looked everywhere. Maybe I missed them, or we are out?
