All,

  • The key manager will return from leave on the 16th.  We'll get another DGM1 key to pair with the Nisqually House Key.  This will open access to the laundry room, gates, EOC etc.  I'll open the laundry room on my way out today.

  • I located Nordic's recycling and trash bins at T101.  I'll drop them off at the Nisqually House this afternoon (12/14).

  • The Tahoes have safety vests, chains, stop/slow paddles and scrapers now.   The climbing Tahoe has highway tires installed but I found some winter tires in storage that should fit.  I'll try and have these swapped by next weekend (my truck needs to be swapped too).

  • I think I figured out the heating system in the Nisqually House.  I'll have a heater info sheet posted by the T-stat in the living room.

Hi Ed,

I hope you enjoyed your days off.  Here are a few reminders about loose ends to follow-up on if you have time before the weekend.  I'm cc'ing Chris the house manager and Greg who is lead this weekend.
  • Can you see about getting a DGM1 key for the lock box at the house so the patrollers will have access to the garage in case they need to hang vests to dry?  Related is a set of whatever keys we should have on a keyring  to take uphill in case they are needed.
  • Can you check and see if you can find the missing waste and recycle cans that belong to Nordic.  They may be in Twoods 101 or 103 as those are the two houses we had at the end of last season.
  • One of Tahoes has no snow brush / ice scraper. I think the other one does.  Also, if you can pull together a few safety vests and maybe road flares or stop signs those are things that used to be in our NPS vehicles in case we are first on scene at an issue on the road.
  • One of the Tahoes has good snow tires, but no chains.  The other one has summer tires that do not have a M+S or three peak snowflake symbol (but has chains).  It looks to me like those are summer touring tires.  It would be great if the park can change those to snow tires, unless it's a temporary vehicle and another one is expected.
  • The gas fireplace was on when I arrived last friday and the house was warm which was great.  Eventually we used the remote to dial down the flame and that worked.  On Sunday I did my best to turn it off or to the lowest setting when we were leaving.
  • The thermostat on the wall had no batteries - I'm not even sure what it controls.  Maybe electric baseboards in that room.  I added new batteries from the patrol supplies, but it still doesn't seem to be working right.
  • This is all ok in the short run, but if you can pull together some instructions on what heat systems we should use in that room and how they work that would be awesome for the long run for the season.  I would hate for us to be using up the propane if the fireplace should be off when no one is there.  We turned all of the other rooms down to 50f when we were leaving, which is the SOP.

None of these are major - just early season details to work out.  Thanks again for helping us get up on Admin traffic on Sunday!
