Part-time outreach staff to mobilize voters to help create a better California

$14.19/hour

25 hours/week May 19^th to June 17^th

 

About us: Working Partnerships is a public policy institute that builds partnerships with community, labor and faith groups to improve the lives of working families in Silicon Valley.

We are part of California Calls, an independent, non-partisan network of 27 community based organizations active across the state. California Calls represents tens of thousands of everyday people committed to renewing the dream of economic opportunity for all Californians. We know we need to change outdated tax laws and bad budget policies, make corporations pay their fair share, and restore common-sense democracy to our state government. What brings us together is that we love California and want to make our state family friendly again, with solid, family-supporting jobs, excellent schools and colleges for our kids, and safe neighborhoods.

We believe it’s up to us – everyday people – to make our state great again. Over the last year, California Calls coordinated a grassroots voter engagement program that connected with 385,000 voters and identified 265,000 who believe in the possibility of change. Most recently, in the November 2010 election, we made history by helping to turnout the highest-ever percentage of Latinos and African Americans in a California midterm election, including many first-time voters!

Working Partnerships is hiring outreach staff to continue mobilizing voters in the South Bay to help make the California Dream a reality.

As outreach staff, you will:

·          Get trained on effective communication and voter engagement.

·          Build public support for these important reforms through phone and/or face-to-face conversations with registered voters.

·          Meet regular outreach goals.

Outreach staff will be paid San Jose’s living wage $14.19/hour. This is a part-time job 25 hours/week from May 19^th - June 17^th.  Working Partnerships is committed to working with and developing our best staff to take on more responsibilities. We are looking for applicants with:

· Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

· Spanish/English and Vietnamese/English bilingual candidates strongly preferred.

· Basic computer proficiency.

· Previous outreach experience is preferred but not required.

· Desire to make real change in everyday people’s lives and revitalize the California Dream.
