All,

read below for current updates:

  • 2nd event preferences for Nov/Dec now open
  • Team Rosters
  • CA AB506

2nd Event Preferences for Nov/Dec

2nd event preference submission for the Nov/Dec events is now open.

Some dull statistics for everyone to consider:

269 currently registered NorCal teams (and continuing to grow)
93 teams participating in leagues
176 teams participating in qualifying tournaments

95 teams are currently registered to attend Nov/Dec tournaments
81 teams have not yet registered for events

17 spaces remain open in Nov/Dec events - and are available for 2nd event registration/preferences NOW

116 spots are confirmed for Jan/Feb events

If all of the 0-event teams register in Jan/Feb, only 35 spots will remain for 2-event registration in Jan/Feb

If the two unfilled Nov events don't get sufficient registration "quickly", they will potentially get cancelled.  This would increase the number of "0-event" teams vying for the Jan/Feb events and potential leave as few as 20 spots for 2nd-event registration!

The point of all this is the best way to currently guarantee a 2nd-event for your team is to register into one of the two Nov events!  Submit your preferences before Thursday!   Without the upside described below, it is unlikely more than a few (if any) teams will be able to attend 3 events.

Some potential upside:

The folks in Folsom are potentially willing to add a second day, but they will need the community to help with recruiting volunteers and organizing the event. (+28 spots)

There are still teams working on potential 2/1 and 2/7 events (+32 spots). We are cautiously hopeful that one or both dates will land events.

For future seasons, plan on attending early Nov events, help with additional events per weekend, or be prepared to not be able to compete more than once!

And as a final thought about tournaments, make sure to thank your tournament hosts!  Without their efforts, you wouldn't have a place to complete!

Team Rosters

All teams need to be working to finalize their team rosters.  Your team's roster needs to be completed before you attend events.  The express enrollment feature has made adding students relatively simple - take care of it NOW!

The team status page on the NorCalFTC.org website includes a summary of what FIRST knows of your team's roster

AB506

We are finalizing our initial status reporting and intend to have an initial view ready and visible in the team status page by the end of the week.

Beginning with the January events, we will start enforcing the state requirement.  Your team will not be eligible to compete without having both lead coach 1 and lead coach 2 fully compliant with AB506.  Watch for the CA YPP status in the team status page!

See https://www.playingatlearning.org/ca-ab506/ for additional information and a quick guide to completing the process!
