A few quick updates:

1.  We just received downloadable information from FIRST about team Coaches California YPP status AND thanks to the quick efforts of the Lumieos dev team, mylumi now has this information available.  This could mean that your team status in mylumi has changed if you have not completed the California requirements.

2. Both  Lead Coach 1 and Lead Coach 2 must have the Overall California YPP Clearance (aka CA-AB506) completed in order to have a "Good" team status (which is what is required in order to register).  No other adults on the team roster are checked - only Lead Coach1 and Lead Coach2.

3. We believe that event registration payments through paypal are now also available.   Please donate a few extra dollars if you can - several of our donors have reduced their support this year and we are scrambling to make up the difference (your donation is tax deductible!).  You will be able to select your event preferences before paying but you must pay before the preference window closes.  [Last year there were several teams that missed this and their preferences were deleted as payment was not received in time].  This is a brand new interface for payments and hopefully is significantly better at debugging if there is an issue.

4. We are pretty sure that all qualifiers that will happen this November are not yet confirmed but I am going to go ahead and open the Preference Window.   Your team once it has a "Good" status, either coach will be able to select their team's qualifier preferences. Preferencing will OPEN on September 22nd early morning and CLOSE on September 26th 11:58pm pacific.    Based on last year's data, please select 4 or more qualifiers if possible.  If you select fewer events, it may mean that you don't get any of your choices and then will have to register during the General (aka first come, first served) period which will start on Sept 29th. Either Coach may select and change preferences at any time between the open and closing preference periods.

5. It is a very good idea to talk with your team parents BEFORE submitting your event preferences.  Once preferences closes and the system does the assignments,  there is no way to change. The events that you select are ones that your team is willing and able to attend.

6. Importantly, there likely will be new qualifiers that get confirmed during the preference window  (ie after OPEN but before CLOSE), if so, I will send out an update here so you can update your preferences before the closing date.   AND even more importantly, there may also be a tournament or two that gets confirmed AFTER preferencing closes.  We can add a few additional events at our building - The Play Space in San Jose - and at the Mountain View School district space if needed.  Our goal is that there is enough space for every team that wishes to compete  (but it may not be in your neighborhood or on a date that you like - those are difficult to control)

7.  Note that your team may not just change to a different tournament once they are assigned into a tournament (either through the preference engine process or the general registration process) - please refer to the Change Policy.   And you really should get familiar with all of our NorCal FLL Challenge team policies

8.  Finally, yes all Qualifiers are in November - only the first 3 weekends.  There are no qualifiers after November 16th - that is the last date!  If you feel like this is not going to work for your team, that is exactly why we have the Spring League!  Learn more about the 2 seasons of events in NorCal

Thanks, Jill
