The FIRST Tech Challenge program is holding their
Regional Championship this weekend on February 22-23 at Newark
Memorial HS in Newark and they are still looking for volunteers
If you'd be interested in finding out what's beyond FIRST Lego
League Challenge, this is a great opportunity to learn about the
program while giving back to the FIRST programs.
Similarly to FLL-C, the FTC program uses judges who are
unaffiliated with any current FTC team. If you're thinking about
moving up but haven't yet and are not connected with a current
season FTC team, you're unaffiliated. :)
The judging for the Championship starts with judge pairs
interviewing teams on Saturday from roughly 3p to 9p. Then on
Sunday, judges will interview a few remaining teams then conduct
pit interviews, watch matches and deliberate until they determine
which teams will win which awards. Judges can volunteer for one
or both days - just specify your availability when you apply.
There is a very short online training and certification required
which takes about an hour.
If you'd like to help out, here's the overall link to volunteer:

The FTC championship is open to the public if you'd like to
visit. The best time to visit is after 10am or so on Sunday to
watch the game play. I would not recommend stopping by on
Saturday as teams will be going through inspection and doing their
judging interviews - nothing exciting for an audience.
Thanks, Jill
