We are approached by volunteer groups and individuals looking to
help mentor a FLL team. After much discussion about this, I am
willing to compile a list of teams seeking mentors that meet the
following conditions:
1) You are officially registered, sponsored and
affiliated with a school or youth organization.
2) The school or youth organization has a formal, written and
comprehensive volunteer screening process that is in compliance
with all laws and regulations. Particularly, for schools, AB 1025
(ASCC) may be relevant
3) The team must meet at the school or youth organization's
facility
If your team meets all of these conditions and you are interested in
getting put on my list for this season, please send me an email and
copy the person at the school or youth organization that can attest
to the team's affiliation. If not obvious, also let me know what
school or youth organization you are affiliated with - include the
full name / website or similar for me to be able to confirm this.
In your email, also please let me know what information you are
willing for me to share. I assume that I need to be able to
release an email address and city. Also, if you are from a city
that sprawls and/or has many neighborhoods like San Jose or San
Francisco, feel free to give additional information on where you
are located within the city.
Note that neither I nor any person at Playing At Learning will be
doing any screening whatsoever. All responsibility to screen
potential mentors and manage their activities will fall squarely on
you and your affiliated school or youth organization.
Regards,
Jill
