Today, FIRST and LEGO Education announced they will conclude their partnership following the 2026-2027 season.

As one of the largest regions for the FIRST LEGO League programs, we know this news brings many questions. While the global landscape of youth robotics is changing, our commitment to the Northern California community remains our top priority.

What You Need to Know:

  • Business as Usual for 2026/2027: The current season and the upcoming 2026-2027 season will proceed.  We are still evaluating how best to support both the Founder's  (aka Spike) Edition and Future (aka CS&AI) Edition platforms.

  • The 2027-2028 Transition: Both organizations have stated that they intend to launch independent K-8 programs starting for the 2027-2028 season.

  • Our Role: Playing At Learning's goal is to ensure that high quality STEM experiences continue in our region for all students.

We appreciate your patience as we navigate the specifics of this transition. We will share updates as soon as concrete details regarding regional implementation become available.
