First TRC Meeting

Hello all Teen Services Professionals,

This email is to inform everyone who has been part of the Northern
California Teen Resources Committee in the past that we will be
resuming our monthly meetings starting in October. If there are people
that have not yet been to a TRC meeting it is basically a great
opportunity to gather with other teen professionals to share
resources, discuss best practices and being part of a positive team
that is willing to help each other better provide for teens in
Northern California. Also, if you are new to Teen Services this is a
fantastic group to help you get your programs off the ground. If
anyone knows someone like this that is not on our google group please
invite them!

Our first meeting this year will be at Rancho Cordova CSD. The Teen
Coordinator, Rachel Durnbaugh, was able to open a new site where she
will be starting an after school teen center. We will meet at her new
teen center, "The Teen Haven" so we can all see this great new
facility as well as help her with ideas to get the center off to a
great start!

Please see below for time, date and address of our first meeting. If
you plan on attending this meeting please reply back with your RSVP so
we can plan accordingly. If you no longer wish to be a part of this
group and would like to be removed from our google group please reply
stating so. Thanks and I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

My hope was to be able to come to a meeting occasionally, but due to
distance and reduced staff I will be unable to attend meetings and we are a
much smaller community, different challenges, different populations.

November 4th will be my last day with FEC.  I have just accepted a position with Sunrise Recreation and Park District.  I am not sure at this time if I will be working with teens there or not, but I would very much like to stay informed/invited to TR.

 

I believe my new e-mail will be bh...@sunriseparks.com ... I can confirm this soon.  These posts go to my personal e-mail, which is great in the mean time.

 

I know we had planed for me to bring surveys to talk about on November 8th ... but that will be my second day of work for Sunrise, so I am going to assume it would be best if I skipped the meeting.  I can send the TALC surveys to the meeting with Jaden, or we can pick a different topic for November and hold off on surveys until I can attend.

 

Jaden is the new FEC Recreation Leader, and he is getting a crash-course in our teen program.  I know this group will be a great resource for him, as it has been for me.
