The march back to the spaceport is long, slow, and tiring. With half of your force destroyed, you had no choice but to make a fighting withdrawal, and in the ensuing chaos Paris Heinlein, Cartman Parker, and Lukas Pippin are separated from you. Upon your return you are given a stern dressing down by Miss Black and XO Thames, but the worst part comes when Miss Kawasaki shows up in the briefing room. Following instructions from XO Thames, you all kowtow before her, including the XO and Miss Black. Those of you that speak Japanese hear the XO giving a sincere and thorough apology for your failure followed by Miss Black doing the same in English. When you dare to peek, you see that both of them remain in kowtow the whole time they are doing this. There is a long, awkward silence from Miss Kawasaki before she finally says, “I am sorry for giving you such a difficult task. Please allow me to relieve you of this burden by taking it on myself.” You then hear her turn and walk away.
