The XO beams a wide grin as you settle in for your debrief. “Our client is very pleased with your work out there. They even went so far as to leave a message for us,” he explains as he taps on his tablet, bringing the briefing room speakers to life.
“Bote reports that you’ve played your part well, Bian Lian,” the distorted voice of Rohrkabel says. “With your assistance, their operation was a complete success. There may be some lingering investigations from the Lyran Intelligence Corps and Military Intelligence Division, but it’s nothing we need to concern ourselves with. Let me explain what this means for you and your agents.”
XO Thames brings up a holographic projection of Alarion as a sphere with myriad green rings circling around it.
“The various corporations, the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces, and the Commonwealth Navy all make use of a network of orbiting supply stations, maintenance platforms, and storage units to make materials and resources easily available to military and commercial vessels in space around the planet. With your help, Bote was able to create a new orbital storage unit right under their noses,” Rohrkabel explains.
A new orange ring appears around the holographic sphere, blinking slowly.
“We’ll be able to use this to stage assets for you and the resistance to use here on Alarion…for a price. We aren’t running a charity here, but I can assure you the rates will be reasonable. And before you start thinking about taking anything by force, know this: I’ve rigged the entire unit with alarm systems that will alert every warship in the system in the event of any unauthorized access. We may be working together, but that doesn’t mean I trust you.”
The hologram changes to a manifest list showing multiple mechs and vehicles being stored in the orbital storage unit.
“The credentials needed to access the local bank account holding your payment are embedded in this message. Bote and I have played our roles…for now. I imagine the resistance will be in contact with you directly in the near future though. Good hunting.”
