Hi friends,

Today is the day: campuses across North America are taking action for #FossilFreedom.

Even as students buckle down for finals, pack up their dorm rooms, and switch gears for some long-awaited vacation, the divestment movement refuses to head into summer quietly. We’re not going anywhere yet!

Today’s inspiring actions include rallies, guerilla marketing blitzes, banner drops, movie screenings, and more. At Colorado College, they’re holding a campus camp-out. At Cornell, they’re staging a die-in. In San Francisco, students from six Bay Area schools are rallying with 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben and City Supervisors.

This is one of those days when we really get to see the breadth and depth of the movement we’re building. (And if you’re on campus today, don’t forget to send us photos!)

Last week, the fossil fuel divestment movement scored a big victory with the announcement that eleven cities had committed to pursue divestment. But the larger movement has always been driven and energized by the movement on college and university campuses, where this whole divestment thing got its start. Which is to say: all of us are standing with you, student campaigners, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll do.

It’s been such an exciting year, and I know it’s only going to get bigger, better, and hotter from here.

Onward,

Phil
