[First District]

On August 5, 2010, Drexel Jones, black male, DOB 09-02-1982 and Dwight
Lockett, black male, DOB 11-29-1989 were both arrested for illegal
discharge of a firearm. (both convicted felons) The arrest were made
after call was dispatched of illegal discharge of a firearm in the
2600 Block of Dumaine Street.

A description was provided of the two perpetrators. A second call was
received a short time later of suspicious persons near Marais at
Saint Anthony, in which the persons matched the shooters description.
The subjects were observed by officers entering in a house in the 1700
block of Marais Street. A surveillance of the location was established
and Lockett was detained after he exited the residence. Jones was
located in the upstairs bedroom.

A search warrant was conducted a 9mm handgun was recovered from the
residence. The casings that were recovered on the scene of the
shooting were the same caliber, therefore we believe at this time the
gun was recovered was used. We are awaiting ballistics to compare
the casings.

Both individuals were positively identified. A supplemental report of
this investigation will be forwarded to ATF for federal prosecutorial
consideration.
