Aggravated Battery - Shooting - Tulane Avenue and Carrolton Avenue

On Monday, August 9, 2010, at approximately 12:58am, officers
responded to a suspicious person with a gun, near South Carrolton and
Tulane Avenue. The subject was described as Andre Bell, B/M, 23 years
old.

Officer arrived and could not locate the subject, however a First
District officer remained in the area. A short time later a fight was
dispathed at Lucky Bucks Club (4037 Tulane Avenue). The officer in the
area requested assistance. No arrest or subjects could be located for
this incident.

While officers were in front of the club, gunshots where heard
coming from Tulane Avenue and Carrollton Avenue area. As officers
canvassed the area, several other calls were recevied about the
possible perpetrators vehicles leaving the area.

One of the suspect vehicles (red Impala with red rims) was seen in the
3500 block of Cleveland. This vehicle was located and five black
males were detained. After further investigation, it was determined
the five subjects were not the perpetrators and they were released.
Other calls about the suspects vehicles indicated a possibly grey or
green sedans. No vehicles fitting the description were found.

Officers were notified via dispatch, four victims suffering from
gunshots wounds were at Touro Hospital. It was learned the victims
were shot at Tulane Avenue and South Carrolton Avenue.

Officers located a scene on South Carrollton and Tulane Avenue, on
the lake side of Carrollton. The victims statements confirmed the
location.

Victim # 1 - Graze wound to right hand and right side of head
Victim # 2 - Minor injury to right ear
Victim # 3 - Gunshot wound to right shoulder
Victim # 4 - Graze wound to back of neck

All of the victims and the driver stated they arrived at the club
around 11:00 pm and left around 2:00am. One of the subjects stated he
had a minor incident inside the club with an unknown black male, but
didn't think anything of it.

The vehicle sustained at least 4-5 gunshots and the windows were
shattered on the right side of the vehicle. No weapon was found
inside the vehicle.

This ivestigation is ongoing.
