Newly Formed S.O.D. Task Force Reports Positive Results

New Orleans, LA – Superintendent of Police Ronal Serpas announced the
results from the newly formed S.O.D. Task Force Unit. These results
are from July 25, 2010 thru July 31, 2010.

The Special Operations Division Task Force Unit arrested 118 adults
and 2 juveniles for felony, Misdemeanor, Municipal, and Curfew
violations. They conducted 13 vehicle stops, issued 2 citations and
made 8 Traffic arrests. The unit made 5 Narcotics cases, executed 1
Search Warrant, conducted 35 wanted checks, and made 71 pedestrian
contacts. They wrote 89 reports, confiscated 4 guns, and 31.16 grams
of Marijuana.

In one incident, officers arrested three perpetrators, which were in
possession of handguns at the intersection of Palmetto and Cambronne
Streets. The three perpetrators were all changing a tire on a car at
the location, when the officers arrived. Upon the officer’s arrival,
all three perpetrators fled on foot. The perpetrators discarded
handguns as they fled from the officers. Three Handguns were
recovered, and all three perpetrators were apprehended and booked
accordingly.
