Third District Command

As many of you may know, Commander Greg Elder has announced his
impending retirement from the NOPD. Our department congratulates
Commander Elder on a wonderful career, full of noteworthy
accomplishment and success. Our very best wishes go with Commander
Elder and his family.



After careful consideration and interviews with many Captains, Deputy
Superintendent Defillo has recommended that Captain Henry Dean assume
Command of the Third District. I concur and agree with Deputy
Superintendent Defillo’s recommendation, and I am pleased to announce
Captain Dean’s appointment as the Commander Designee of the Third
District. Chief Defillo, Commanders Elder and Dean will begin a
transition process starting on Monday, August 9, 2010.



I would like to take this time to thank all the Captains who expressed
an interest in this position.



Please join me in congratulating Commander Elder at the retirement of
a successful career, and welcome Commander Dean to the challenges of
his new assignment.
