At the end of the ride today, I came around Filip's leadout and sprinted ahead of Big Dave for the firehouse sign at the end of Portola.
At that moment I had this a very strong flashback:
the last time I was in that exact same situation this particular rider in orange passed me in the last 10 meters with such ease it was annoying.
That rider was none other than Chris Hipp(star). At that moment today - for a split second - I was looking for him to come around me on the left like last time. But, of course, that would be impossible today.
Man, come to think of it he did that to me many times.
The guy could sprint and he had the best sense of timing of anyone out there.
I will miss him.
