I thought I would just send a short note why I've not been showing up lately.  (In case the back end of the pack is starting to look a little thinned out).

On my way to the noon ride last Tuesday, I had the most bizarre crash.  I was going around some construction on Charleston and I looked back to see if any cars were coming.  The next thing I know I was sliding on the asphalt!  I still don't really know why I went down, perhaps senility?  Anyway, the result is a broken clavicle and several broken ribs.  I'm sure I'm out for 6 weeks and maybe longer because I could probably use screws and plates, but for other reasons they want to delay surgery.

Is there an iphone app to keep you in shape while you're watching tv?

Mark - that sucks!  You missed a fairly fast ride today - I thought anyways.  Temperature was much better than yesterday.

Yesterday was scorching hot.  Lots of casualties.  A bunch of us stopped for water at Roberts after coming back from 92.  Then coming back on Mtn Home we happened upon Ken who was looking faint and very pale (even more than his usual whiteness).  Filip and Kevin  gave him food and water.  Ken came back to life after a few minutes and we escorted him back to the ride origin.

Some people on the list may have suggestions to stay in shape with your injuries.  I know at least one crazy AV guy (no secret: Bo Hebe) who got back on the bike just a few days after breaking ribs.   A trainer in front of the tv may be more prudent.

Take care,

Greg
