Product Details

Description

A fresh take on a classic design.

Shimanoโ€™s XT line has always been a noble workhorse thatโ€™s also able to pull double-duty in a steeplechase, which happens to be a picture-perfect match for this Ibis Mojo HDR 650b complete mountain bike. A modern interpretation of the mountain bike, the latest Ibis is ready to tackle tough lines, yet itโ€™s light enough for competitive use.

In fact, Ibisโ€™ latest heavy-duty version sheds about half-a-pound from its bones, gains ISCG05 chain guide compatibility, and adds 27.5-inch rubber to the party. This means that youโ€™ll find the same DW Link suspension design, that relies on parallel links to generate 130mm of plush, yet firm travel.

If that sounds like a paradox, it isnโ€™t. Dave Weagle is the designer of DW-Link, and he has a history of building some of the best performing suspension bikes on the planet. What that means is that the HDRโ€™s suspension provides anti-squat properties that are naturally resistant to rider input. Because of that, it allows for a lighter compression tune in the FOX FLOAT CTD rear shock, and a bike thatโ€™s firm on the pedals yet incredibly smooth through the rough stuff.

Like its predecessor, tying that shock to a 140mm-travel FOX 34 FLOAT CTD fork is a carbon fiber structure. But now itโ€™s a half-pound lighter, while also retaining the strength that made the HDR a favorite among aggressive riders. Ibis accomplished this by continually refining its production techniques and carbon layup. At the rear of the Mojo HDR, Ibis uses a 12x142mm Maxle quick-release thru-axle.

The wheels youโ€™ll find accompanying this HDRโ€™s Shimano XT build are Ibis Speed Tuned XM hubs laced to NoTubes ZTR Flow EX rims. This means that its 2.3in-wide Pacenti Neo-Moto tires will balloon to their full traction-enhancing potential. Spinning the rear wheel is a Shimano XT drivetrain with an 11-36t cassette and e.thirteenโ€™s TRS+ crankset thatโ€™s supporting 24/34t chainrings and a bash guard.

To provide reassurance when exploring the HDR 650bโ€™s limits, Shimano XT brakes with 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors that will drop anchor at a momentโ€™s notice. The levers are perched on a Ibis Mojo HiFi carbon bars that are a respectable 740mm wide. Completing the build is an Ibis 3D seatpost and an Ibis saddle.

The Ibis Mojo HDR 650/Shimano XT Complete Mountain Bike is available in four sizes from Small to X-Large and in the colors Cobra Blue and Reverse Vitamin P.
