Hi everyone

We're a British family who have been living in Taipei for just over
six months. We've got an 8 year old son who is attending public school
here but who I also homeschool to help maintain his English skills.
He's also a piano student and has been learning since he was four. I
am very interested in and sympathetic to the homeschooling movement,
having homeschooled my eldest son for a year back in Britain, and
would like to become involved in the movement here, particularly in
any community of music students you may have.

As well as introducing ourselves I'd also like to ask for your help.
We're desperately seeking a piano teacher. We're currently on our
third, but all of the teachers we've had so far have been students,
and so constantly want to reschedule or cancel lessons to fit in with
their own rehearsals and performances. We're on a tight schedule
ourselves and don't have the flexibility to accommodate a lot of
change, and my son's motivation is really suffering! We live in the
Wanlong area (Wenshan District) but don't mind travelling a reasonable
distance if we can access regular lessons.

Many thanks for your attention.

Has a degree and is in her 40s, very professional. She's just recovering from throat surgery though so e-mail might be best.

Best regards,

Ron

Ms LIN's class is on the corner of Muxin and Xinglong in Wen San District. You don't need to travel far from Wanlong.

Our son has been going there for nearly five year. She keeps her schedule if you can find an open slot.

Good luck!

I strongly recommend Joanne Yeh 0933-012-254. She teaches four of
our children ages 10, 8, 8, and 4. She makes it interesting and fun
for all of them. She has been teaching for 16 years as her full time
job. We are amazed at the progress she brings forth from our
children.

She is located in Nangang but will come to your home for a higher fee.

If you don't speak Chinese, speak slowly to her in English so that
she can understand you more clearly.

Best regards,
Wendy

Are there any piano teachers in or near Tienmu?

Thanks to everyone for all of your responses. I didn't imagine I would get so many or so quickly! I'll start contacting the teachers mentioned. I've no doubt we'll be able to find someone good now.

I was happily surprised to hear there are other piano (and presumably other musical instrument) students in Taipei. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together to hold a mini-recital for the students and their families (plus anyone else who might like to come). We'll be moving soon but I wouldn't mind having it at our new apartment once we're settled in - probably around May.

Rhonda, I just remembered I heard of a good teacher who lives in Guandu. Is that too far for you? He's an American who has lived in Taipei for many years and teaches piano full time. If you're interested just let me know and I will try to find out more details for you.
