We want to register in the States; how to apply for exemption?

Hello everyone,

I am so sorry if this was already covered here; I did several
searches, but couldn't find detailed information.

After already applying to our local school in Taipei, we came to the
decision that we want to register our kids in the States (they are
dual citizens), and apply for exemption in Taiwan. Is there a special
procedure?

Deana, I read that the officials in Taidong accepted the letter that
you gave them from an American school. I'm wondering if the rules are
the same in Taipei.

I'm guessing we have to provide some sort of proof that we are
registered for homeschooling in another country? Are there special
forms to fill out?

Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you.
Can you try asking this question in the Facebook group? It's much more
active than this one. If you are not in the group yet look for
"Learn@Home in Taiwan".

Lillian,
I am just seeing this.I do not know if all the rules are the same, I would think, but do not know for sure.
I am sure that you would have to show something as they need to write up something about the education of your child.
What we did was just have the school on their letterhead write a letter saying the child was registered in their school for that year and that they will be keeping transcripts and able to offer a diploma upon completion of of school .
Nit much in the letter. It is an option we are able to have and for our family so far:)
