UPDATESEVERY DAY??..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I was able to successfully install the patch on a portable version of WCIII. So the program does not need to be "installed" nor do you have to edit the registry.
My WCIII folder is located in C:\Program Files\Warcraft III. I'm on Windows XP, and my previous version was 1.24, and I used the full version patch (War3TFT_126a_English.exe).
THE PATCHES DSNT WORK... THEY ARE NOT TESTED I GUESS..
IF THEY ARE...ITS NOT FOR ALL....(^^)
COULD YOU PLS GIVE US A HAND HERE...
WE LOVE PLAYING DOTA...WE LOVE THE GAME...
PLS DO SOMETHING....ABOUT THE PATCHES....

guys, ain't you readin'??
it says if there's the "error: unable to apply patch.."
read this:
-it worked well for me. ^^ cheers!
I installed the patch, but when i try to connect to bored aussie it says Unable to validate game version. Please reconnect to Battle.net, or apply the current game patch manually.
can anyone help?
use this warcraft registry patch installer if you get error. Run this program and browse for warcraft folder and select frozen throne.exe
Still problem see this video

i found why the patch doesnt work. Extremely easy to solve but you just need to think about it lol. You have to right-click the patch and run as administrator. The reason of the error is because the patch is changing protected files and the only way to let a program do that is to invoque the administrators rights. There you go, i hope i helped everyone
Blizzard PrePatch v2.70
An Error has occurred preparing the patch thus prolem can commonly be corrected by reistalling the game and trying the update again if this error repeats then cotact Blizzard technical support
that waht he say
what i can do?
FIX for:
ERROR: unable to create file 'c:\program files (x86)\warcraft iii\BNUpdate.exe'
First things first before applying the patch, run the game atleast oance and change some options, like graphic or resolution. ( this step is necesary so the game puts itself in the registry )
After downloading the patch file, right click on it, select properties. Click on the Unblock button, click on Apply then on OK. Right click on the patch file then click on Run as administrator.
This works for me on windows 7 and windows 8.
note this is classic WARCRAFT 3. not reforged one.
the cinematic is in movies folder. you can open it with mpc.
when cinematic played by media player like mpc. cinematic video quality is fine.
but when cinematic played in game. the cinematic video quality is very bad.
Sorry for being super-busy in these days.
There's a chance that you could need a new feture I just added in a experimental dxwnd version. If you want to try it, use the attached dxwnd files and set the "Video / No DWM" flag.
Please, let me know what happens: I coied the idea from Jari ddrawcompat siources, but I wasn't sure about the purpose of the feature.
If you set directx emulation to "none" the game won't run in a window, so there will be no window to be set with no DWM mode.
Try setting default ddraw settings, then set window size to "Desktop" (in Main configuration tab) and the "Video / No DWM". But, before this test, let the game run in a 800x600 default window size with thick borders: this way you should be able to see if the DWM is turned off (the window border should have a different shape).
But, of course, it is uncertain that all this will fix the movies video quality ...
Ok, I got it, more or less.
I tested the game with a RIP version 1.21 (though I bought at least three copies of the game CDs, it's much easier to grab the game from the web than moving my ass to my cellar, in these covid19 I couldn't do it even if I will), so no movies to see. Not that that should mean much, because there's so much variability on video codecs that whatever I could see here wouldn't reflect what you see at your home.
This game version is not identical to others, so it's possible that what I say doesn't always apply, but I hope it should fix the problem anyway. The RIP has both episodes, and you can run either "Reign of Chaos" or "The Frozen Throne" by running either "Warcraft III.exe" or "Frozen Throne.exe", but the two programs both run the real game engine "War3.exe" telling what resources to load. If you run War3.exe directly, the program loads by default the resources for Frozen Throne!
You should hook the two launcher program as launchers, both with War3.exe as target program, but this solution doesn't work because War3.exe initializes the screen before getting hooked.
The best and simplest solution that I found is to hook War3.exe ONLY, but setting the "Hot patch" flag to ensure that the video initialization is intercepted. Then you can run the game by the normal shortcuts. The configuration is in the attached export, you just need to update the path field as usual.
Once done that, you can try to set the "No DWM" flag. I tested it and saw that it works (the window border becomes different) but I don't have movies to check if their rendering improves.
someone else on internet also say install lav filter and disable
blizzard.ax codec solve it. but for me the cinematic just blacksceen.
here better link =YQkelnmTOBE
i try ver 1.28.5 it fixed the problem. because in patch 1.27 chanelog they fix a lot compatbilty problem on win10.
link for patch 1.28.5
bur still i want ver 1.26 to have same cinematic quality
Versions 1.26 and 1.28.5 seems quite different. The first (1.26) crashes when trying to play teh movies, the second (1.28.5) plays the movies correctly scaled, but when I press the ESC key to stop the movie the screen becomes black, the system is unresponsive and I have to stop the computer by keeping the power on button for 30 seconds!!!
I'm not sure that the second problem could depend on the game or the codec, more likely there's something weird in the video drivers, but right now I don't want to take the chance ...
BTW also the file organization seems different. I suppose that the 1.28.5 patch should be applied overwriting part of the 1.26 files, but the result doesn't match the previous one: running Warcraft III.exe I run the frozen throne in window mode also without hooking w3.exe!! Quite strange, and the reign of chaos seems impossible to run. Maybe I did the operation wrong, should I have applied the 1.27 patch first?
I had a possibility to do a quick test on Win10 (only with version 1.27). The video did not play even though I installed Lav Filters and unregistered
blizzard.ax. After clicking in the empty white Blizzard player window, the game continued (with some DxWnd setting).
The .mpq files seem to be avi with a modified DivX codec (DivX for Blizzard Decoder Filter).
If I find some time, I'll try again tomorrow.
Some more tests on Win10.
In the attachment you can see the video decoding in GraphEdit depending on what I set up.
1- with removed Blizzard codec and without LAV Filters - nothing can decode the video
2- With Blizzard codec - the video works without DxWnd, but there are some artifacts down below the playing video (in the black bottom)
3- Without Blizzard Codec and with LAV Filters (MPEG 4- part 2 decoding enabled) - same behavior as in point 2.
I managed run video with some settings (in the attachment) with DxWnd, but I get an ugly white rectangle on the right side of the video.
I'm back on Win 10 and now I see a problem with a mouse that I haven't noticed before.
I can't move the mouse more down and right than on the image in the attachment.
This problem is definitely related to the problem of the white rectangle in the video.
It seems, that game does not to be aware of the exact position of the window.
Entering the starting position of the x-0 y-0 window is almost good, but very impractical.
This problem is quite clear when moving the window.
Some idea?
Very efficient video codecs use tricky ways to getdirectly to the video buffers, so they likely bypass the window position and the hooked system calls. Sometimes you can cheat by pretending the video has minor capabilities, but this doesn't always work.
With flag "Hot patch" + "Remap Client Rect" video works, but there are white rectangles in the video window again. With flags "Hot patch" + "Remap Client Rect" + "Fix AdjustWindowRect" + "Hook dialog WindowProc" are not white rectangles, but the video does not fill the entire window (800x600). In addition, with this combination (Hook Dialog WindowProc), the video cannot be skipped or ended and the game will change the Gamma Ramp value.
If there is a solution I have not found it yet.
Update:
The best combination I found was "Hot patch" + "Remap Client Rect" + "Fix AdjustWindowRect". Unfortunately, the video runs centered in a 800x600 window with a resolution of approximately 700x500. I'm afraid, that I can't think up more.
AFAIK some codecs are not supporting windowed mode, or may query the video capabilities to behave using the best features (hw acceleration, video oevrlays etc.) so all the effort to find a best configuration on one computer could easily become vane when moving somewhere else. It's a bit frustrating, I don't know if there's a way to hook inside directshow filters and force a good-for-all solution. But, of course, if there's such a good-for-all solution I would expect some compromise on the video quality, so in the end someone will always be unhappy.
