[2011/03/25 08:55] Nelly Tungsten: now i'd like to tell you all a little about my plans for incorporating our mission into SL
[2011/03/25 08:56] Nelly Tungsten: about two years ago I started exploring SL as part of an anthropology class.
[2011/03/25 08:56] Nelly Tungsten: we read tom boelstorff's coming of age in sl
[2011/03/25 08:57] Nelly Tungsten: which went into great detail about the way that SL is not only a resource of health information
[2011/03/25 08:57] Nelly Tungsten: but also can be a theraputic engagement itself
[2011/03/25 08:58] Nelly Tungsten: so i did a little searching for available space and I bought a parcel next to another SF-based org SomArts
[2011/03/25 08:59] Nelly Tungsten: i started converting AfH's real life collection into the SL gallery
[2011/03/25 08:59] Nelly Tungsten: staged exhibitions
[2011/03/25 08:59] Nelly Tungsten: and started creating free box sets
[2011/03/25 09:00] Nelly Tungsten: with the idea that much like the healthcare facilities we install in in real life
[2011/03/25 09:00] Nelly Tungsten: second life is it's own personal space for everyone
[2011/03/25 09:01] Nelly Tungsten: i ended up closing the gallery about a year ago because i was paying for it myself and enjoying it a bit too much
[2011/03/25 09:02] Nelly Tungsten: but i did not forget about the idea and when I heard about this community of nonprofits, eco and healthcare organization i thought it would be a great opportunity to revive the AfH gallery
[2011/03/25 09:02] Nelly Tungsten: Glitter could I have permission to rez one of the gift boxes
[2011/03/25 09:02] Buffy Beale: great going!
[2011/03/25 09:02] Nelly Tungsten: ?

[2011/03/25 09:13] Beverly (virtualnativelands.beverly): Nelly, have you considered creating a scripted system of some kind that would allow those who do not own land to enjoy the artworks? A single prim or better a HUD based system might be easier for some to use than rezzing so many individual objects.

[2011/03/25 09:23] Glitteractica Cookie: we live stream them all into the NPC in SL
[2011/03/25 09:23] Hydra Shaftoe: yeah they're quite good
[2011/03/25 09:23] Nelly Tungsten: i will
[2011/03/25 09:23] Glitteractica Cookie: so you can be one of the lucky few in both places: RL and SL
[2011/03/25 09:23] Kali Idziak: that's the link Nelly
[2011/03/25 09:23] Free Original Art - Taya-Doro Mitchell - Kleurboek (25 pieces): Touched.
[2011/03/25 09:23] Glitteractica Cookie: So, speaking of events
[2011/03/25 09:23] BETF Afterthought: hmm.. if i recall.. metanomics and IEEE members was my first insight on NPC
[2011/03/25 09:24] Free Original Art - Taya-Doro Mitchell - Kleurboek (25 pieces): Touched.
[2011/03/25 09:24] Glitteractica Cookie: Kali, would you like to join me up here to start your updates and i will continue after you give your first one?
[2011/03/25 09:24] Kali Idziak: yup
[2011/03/25 09:24] Kali Idziak: should I start with SXSW?
[2011/03/25 09:24] Glitteractica Cookie: sure
[2011/03/25 09:24] Sarvana Haalan: even if we will be attending via SL, can we join th eMeetUp group?
[2011/03/25 09:24] Kali Idziak: so for those of you who don't know... SXSW is South by Southwest
[2011/03/25 09:24] Glitteractica Cookie: sure sarvana
[2011/03/25 09:25] Sarvana Haalan: great!
[2011/03/25 09:25] BETF Afterthought: yep..
[2011/03/25 09:25] Kali Idziak: and it's a huge gatherin in Austin that started first I believe with Music and then added film and interactive
[2011/03/25 09:25] Kali Idziak: So both In Kenzo and I participated in the Interactive portion of the event
[2011/03/25 09:25] Kali Idziak: It's a huge conrerence type event with literally over 20 different panel happening at any one time
[2011/03/25 09:26] Kali Idziak: all of them pretty good so it's an amazing thing to attend, if nothing else as it forces you to make decisions!
[2011/03/25 09:26] Kali Idziak: In Kenzo and Josephine ( I don't remember her avatar name at the moment)
[2011/03/25 09:26] Glitteractica Cookie: junot
[2011/03/25 09:26] Glitteractica Cookie: josephine junot
[2011/03/25 09:26] Kali Idziak: presented on nonprofit Games
[2011/03/25 09:27] Kali Idziak: their presentation was amazing with a huge amount of slides
[2011/03/25 09:27] Kali Idziak: to be honest, the slide deck alone is a huge asset to the games for nonprofits community
[2011/03/25 09:27] Kali Idziak: as it tells the story of all sorts of games, platforms and ways groups are using games to education and spread the story of what they are working on
[2011/03/25 09:27] Glitteractica Cookie: is it on slideshre?
[2011/03/25 09:27] Glitteractica Cookie: ok
[2011/03/25 09:28] Kali Idziak: there was a great blog post as well from an attendee (who was also our wonderful blogger at the OCTribe meetup this week!)
[2011/03/25 09:28] Glitteractica Cookie: Susan Chavez
[2011/03/25 09:29] Kali Idziak: There's honestly more that happened at SXSW than I can hope to convey though I do hope to go through all the great tools I found and write up more about it soon
[2011/03/25 09:29] Kali Idziak: we did find a great gaming platform that's easy to use that we'll discuss more in the future (after we've touched it a bit)
[2011/03/25 09:29] Kali Idziak: and I found an interesting iPhone app that can be used to create tours... museums, schools and even service agencies could use it to tell the story of their nonprofit work
[2011/03/25 09:30] Hour Destiny:
http://ideasys.com/ Free 3D social game dev kit coming out mid-April with hosting and marketing included.
[2011/03/25 09:30] Kali Idziak: that one is called iTourU and is totally free
[2011/03/25 09:30] Glitteractica Cookie: Thanks Hour
[2011/03/25 09:30] Kali Idziak: but that's enough for now about SXSW. If you have a chance to go I highly suggest it... it's packed with amazing information
[2011/03/25 09:30] Kali Idziak: oh, wait
[2011/03/25 09:30] Kali Idziak: one last thing
[2011/03/25 09:31] Kali Idziak: there's a new social media stats tracking dashboard that's coming out thanks to a google developer and BAVC (Bay Area Video Coalition)
[2011/03/25 09:31] Kali Idziak: we're hoping to do some beta testing on it but it will literally revolutionize how you tell your stats and ROI story
[2011/03/25 09:31] Kali Idziak: ok, now I'm done!
[2011/03/25 09:32] Glitteractica Cookie: I wonder how it differs from Radian 6 or Tarckur
[2011/03/25 09:32] Kali Idziak: it's way better Glitter... the ability to be visually stunning and still tell your story blows everything else out of the water
[2011/03/25 09:32] Kali Idziak: it was designed to tell the story of nonprofit films
[2011/03/25 09:32] Kali Idziak: and how the work they did made impact which can be a hard connection to make
[2011/03/25 09:33] Hydra Shaftoe: the impact dashboard looks really useful
[2011/03/25 09:33] Free Original Art - Taya-Doro Mitchell - Kleurboek (25 pieces): Touched.
[2011/03/25 09:33] Kali Idziak: but best yet it allows you to mess with it to make it very front facing
[2011/03/25 09:33] Kali Idziak: adding videos, etc
[2011/03/25 09:33] Kali Idziak: and it's open source and free
[2011/03/25 09:33] Kali Idziak: so people can develop more tools to make it better
[2011/03/25 09:33] Kali Idziak: which really adds to it's usefulness
[2011/03/25 09:33] Glitteractica Cookie: cool
[2011/03/25 09:33] Kali Idziak: Should we move on to NTC?
[2011/03/25 09:33] Glitteractica Cookie: sure
[2011/03/25 09:33] Hydra Shaftoe: i dont see anything on her at a quick glance about this - any idea if there's a beta test access available?
[2011/03/25 09:34] Glitteractica Cookie: we look forward to your write up from SXSW
[2011/03/25 09:34] Buffy Beale: /me whispers ok rezzed another box for Nelly this one you can 'open' and copy the artwork to your inventory
