[08:52] Elli Pinion: :-)
[08:52] Buffy Beale: c'mon down Z and Elli :)
[08:53] Rhiannon Chatnoir: love your images behind us Buffy
[08:53] Buffy Beale: Hi everyone, today is a scary but exciting day for me
[08:53] Buffy Beale: thanks Rhi, and to Zinnia for these amazing images
[08:53] Buffy Beale: On December 29, 2019 I posted on my Facebook that it was time to do something about an idea that I’ve had for a while.
[08:54] Buffy Beale: I said I wanted to start a ‘movement’ called “Join Me Join Us”.
[08:54] Buffy Beale: Very ambitious and something I’ve been thinking about for a long time but kinda risky putting it out there because I didn’t really have a grasp of what the movement would even be for.
[08:54] Buffy Beale: I knew I wanted people to know they’re not alone in wanting things to change for the better.
[08:54] Buffy Beale: And maybe, just maybe, people would naturally network from that connection, become a bigger voice together
[08:54] Buffy Beale: “Join Me Join Us” is a phrase I used when I was playing Jane McGonigal’s Urgent Evoke game ten years ago: http://www.urgentevoke.com
[08:55] Buffy Beale: “Urgent Evoke”, the 2010 Social Impact Game of the Year, is finished now but was about training people to become Social Innovators, teaching why and how, and was a great networking opportunity, I made many great friends from around the world.
[08:55] Buffy Beale: The game sparked many real life projects which are still going today.
[08:55] Buffy Beale: I used that phrase “Join Me Join Us”, so that people would join me in the game and become a Social Innovator, but the phrase always stuck with me and I knew someday I would do something with it.
[08:55] Buffy Beale: The problem was, I kept getting stumped at what people would join me for.
[08:55] Buffy Beale: There’s so much needs changing locally where I live and globally in the world, and so many causes with each one supported by dedicated nonprofits and people who want to make a difference, most of whom are struggling to keep the lights on. It’s disheartening, and here we are on the dawn of a ‘Golden Decade’.
[08:56] Rhiannon Chatnoir: I think many people feel the need to help but not sure how
[08:56] Buffy Beale: Canada alone has over 170,000 charities and they’re not even sure how many of those are nonprofits, the grass-roots organizations surviving on a shoestring.
[08:56] Buffy Beale: It was overwhelming, I could not think of one specific cause I wanted to support that doesn’t already have a lot of supporters, and I can’t support them all in a meaningful way.
[08:56] Namaara MacMoragh: :-)
[08:56] Buffy Beale: Then, it struck me one day that what I really wanted was to connect everyone who are or want to make a difference AND those who need a difference or change to be made, whether it be climate or homeless or animals in distress or disability rights, and so forth.
[08:57] Buffy Beale: All causes joined together for one strong voice, a daunting thought.
[08:57] Buffy Beale: I mean, we’ve had so many special days, special trending hashtags and endless number of marches for this and that but what if we all got together and marched across the Internet?
[08:57] Namaara MacMoragh: ooooo I love it
[08:57] Buffy Beale: I decided if I could just create a ‘network’ first by using specified hashtags and have everyone to use their social media to say what they want/need changed, it just might work to get people to join together.
[08:57] Marylou Goldrosen: Hi Everyone!  SOrry I am late! Marylou Goldrosen is Dr. Mary Stokrocki, Arizona State University; I teach at NonProfit Commons - my ART ARK Plush Nonprofit Commons (131,24,49)
[08:57] Buffy Beale: It would give people a chance to have their say on what they want changed, but also, provides a way for those who need a change to have their say too.
[08:58] Buffy Beale: just in time Marylou :)
[08:58] Buffy Beale: It could even simply be a way for people to vent.
[08:58] Buffy Beale: I set up a domain, Wordpress site, Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts and asked Zinnia and Elli to join me as Co-Founders for their expertise in social media and more.
[08:58] Buffy Beale: I really do have to thank the NPC because many of the skills I used, I learned from attending these meetings.
[08:58] Buffy Beale: We want to create a network of people who want to make a difference, and people who need a difference to be made. The vision is to become one voice of many causes for the good in life for all.
[08:59] Rhiannon Chatnoir: oh nice, do you have links to those web and social sites to share later
[08:59] Marly (marly.milena): Oh, I thought (and like the idea) that you meant you want to create a support network for individuals involved in various causes so they don't lose heart and keep going with their efforts, supporting each others' well-being. Is that what you intend?
[08:59] Buffy Beale: We were kicking around ideas of how to funnel people in to topic streams to make it easier to connect but there’s so many, I wanted to keep it simple with the three hashtags to start, and hope that some will make connect naturally as often happens with social media, by searching on those hashtags.
[08:59] Buffy Beale: yes that's part of it Marly and yes Rhi at the end :)
[08:59] Buffy Beale: The ‘How’ is to have people FB and Tweet and Instagram etc what they want changed in 5 words or less and add the hashtags:
#joinmejoinus #localchange #globalchange.
[08:59] Buffy Beale: Use all your social media to get the word out to join ‘you’ to become an ‘us’.
[08:59] Buffy Beale: Crazy eh?
[08:59] Buffy Beale: The 'how' will be posted on our website and social media channels and we’re inviting you to help us on our launch day of Thursday, January 23, 2020 to join in, have your say and pass the word along.
[09:00] Buffy Beale: 1-23-2020 = launch day.
[09:00] Buffy Beale: On that day we’ll be starting the posts and tweets and it would be awesome if you shared and added your 5 words and the tags:
#joinmejoinus #localchange #globalchange
[09:00] Namaara MacMoragh: Love it Buffy!!
[09:00] Buffy Beale: I don’t know where this will lead, but there is a huge opportunity and the time is right to join together and be heard.
[09:00] Buffy Beale: thanks Nam and we'll be hitting you up for a vision statement session :)
[09:00] Buffy Beale: The timing is right for something like this, and with the Internet and social media as communication tools, we have what we need.
[09:00] Rhiannon Chatnoir: very cool
[09:01] Buffy Beale: As one friend said to me:
“We better make this the Roaring Twenties or else it will be the Dirty Thirties”.
[09:01] Buffy Beale: Join me join us.
[09:01] Namaara MacMoragh: :-)
[09:01] Buffy Beale: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/joinmejoinus
[09:01] Buffy Beale: We're still in the process of setting up the final webpage so you're getting an early peek :)
[09:02] Buffy Beale: and that's it, but I really want to thank Zinnia and Elli for joining me, they both jumped in without even knowing the full story :)
[09:02] Buffy Beale: great teammates!
[09:02] Zinnia Zauber: You are amazing, Buffy!
[09:02] Buffy Beale: and if either have anything to add, please do
[09:02] Rhiannon Chatnoir: a great start so far and hope the idea gets shared
[09:02] Rhiannon Chatnoir: yes, Buffy is
[09:02] Elli Pinion: We are honored to be a part! Isn't this exciting?
[09:02] Zinnia Zauber: And, we want to support your dream!
[09:03] Marylou Goldrosen: What a Great Team you All Are!
[09:03] Valibrarian Gregg: Yes! wonderful virtual teamwork
[09:03] Buffy Beale: thank you so much
[09:03] Buffy Beale: and that's it, who knows where this will take us, but it'll be an adventure
[09:03] Wisdomseeker (lissena): Love it!
[09:03] Buffy Beale: thanks everyone, get your tweets and stuff ready for Thursday Jan 23
[09:03] Zinnia Zauber: And, we wanted you all to be the first to know about it and join me join us.
[09:04] Stranger Nightfire: the basic concept is very right on because the prime directive of the oppressors is #divideandconquer
[09:04] Elli Pinion: Bringing great hearts/minds/voices together.
[09:04] LV (lorivonne.lustre): awesome!
[09:04] Zinnia Zauber: Thank you everyone!
[09:04] Buffy Beale: thanks :) and now back to our exciting presentation from Ludo!
[09:05] Rhiannon Chatnoir: great
[09:05] Stranger Nightfire: so a movement specifically for unity is very good
[09:05] Zinnia Zauber: Rah Ludova!
[09:05] Buffy Beale: thanks Stranger :)
[09:05] Rhiannon Chatnoir: thank you Buffy, Zinnia and Elli!
[09:05] Sarabell Jansma: Thanks  Buffy and Zinna and Elli Great  idea!
[09:05] Elli Pinion: Thank you all!
[09:05] Zinnia Zauber: Thank you!
[09:06] Rhiannon Chatnoir: I think that is another strength of Nonprofit Commons being this long standing community is collaborations often get born
[09:06] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Join me join us fits my Hero Walk motto. We are all heroes. Every hero is needed,
[09:06] Zinnia Zauber: Yes!!!
[09:06] Rhiannon Chatnoir: yes, and a good segway
[09:07] Rhiannon Chatnoir: next up is our featured part of things
[09:07] Buffy Beale: That's so true Rhi!
[09:07] Rhiannon Chatnoir: this week we have Ludova leading a tour of her Hero's Walk and space here in NPC
[09:07] Elli Pinion: Yes!!!
[09:07] Buffy Beale: cheering!
[09:08] Rhiannon Chatnoir: So lets welcome Ludo and feel free to start when ready :)
[09:08] Ludova (quippe.wylder) can't stop grinning.
[09:08] Ludo: In the Purple step of  the Hero Walk, the Rock Star asks three questions. “Who am I? What am I doing here? Who are all these other people.” I'll answer those questions now. Who am I?
[09:08] .: . . .
[09:09] Ludo: I'm not associated with a non-profit organization. My one claim to fame is that I invented the Hero Walk, an interactive exhibit and tool based on Joseph Campbell's hero journey, found in “The Hero With 1000 Faces.”
[09:09] Rhiannon Chatnoir: Ludova is also going to speak, so you should hear her voice
[09:09] .: . . .
[09:09] Rhiannon Chatnoir: she is also doing text
[09:09] Ludo: I started out thinking of Hero Walk as a tool for role-play. I would explain it like this. We are pretending that we came from Prism Home, a planet where everyone is raised to believe that we are all heroes and every hero is needed.
[09:09] .: . . .
[09:09] Ludo: Now we are in a place where most people believe that some people are villains, which leads to the belief that anyone I don't agree with is a villain, which is unhealthy. What are we heroes going to do about that?
[09:09] .: . . .
[09:10] Ludo: When I brought Hero Walk to SL in 2006, one of the first persons I met was Lissena, and I started Hero Walk with her and her friends. They weren't at all interested in role play, so we used Hero Walk as a tool for self-exploration.
[09:10] .: . . .
[09:10] Ludo: The 2014 Hero Walk is on Inspiration Island today, and Tooyaa (Thuja Hines) is leading it well. She has added to it a lot since I asked her to take over because of my health.
[09:10] .: . . .
[09:10] Ludo: What am I doing here? I want to get back into experimenting with Hero Walk. I have some ideas for growing it, but to do that I need help. I did very little with Hero Walk alone. It became what it is today with the help of people in SL.
[09:10] .: . . .
[09:10] Ludo: I also want to get involved with Non-Profit Commons. I've been role playing in SL, but I'm just not interested in role play any more. I want to play with more serious issues. I think that Non-Profit Commons can help me the most.
[09:11] .: . . .
[09:11] Ludo: Why do I think that? Well, we come to the last question. Who are all these other people? You are heroes  who are already helping Earth become more like Prism Home. You are heroes who might be able to use the Hero Walk to help accomplish your goals.
[09:11] .: . . .
[09:11] Ludo: Those of you who offer support to the unfortunate might use the Hero Walk to encourage self-esteem and teach social skills. All of you might use it to help people understand how we can all be so different, and yet all be heroes.
[09:11] .: . . .
[09:11] Ludo: I don't know how you can best use the Hero Walk. I'd like to help you figure that out. If we play with it awhile, we are bound to learn a lot.
[09:11] .: . . .
[09:12] Ludo: I'd like to pause now for questions and comments, then we'll all go over to the Hero Walk on Aloft where I think we'll have time to experience the colorful life of a hero.
[09:12] .: . . .
[09:12] Wisdomseeker (lissena): (we are very honored to have the Hero Walk build on Inspiration Island)
[09:12] Zinnia Zauber: It is a wonderful process for folks to learn.
[09:12] Rhiannon Chatnoir: yes
[09:12] Rhiannon Chatnoir: any questions or comments so far
[09:13] Buffy Beale: Such a great idea!
[09:13] Rhiannon Chatnoir: we can type for you if needed
[09:13] Zinnia Zauber: We are grateful to have Ludova here at Nonprofit Commons too.
[09:13] Marly (marly.milena): Ludo is one of my oldest friends in SL and is one of the people most famliar with SymMods.  We have nurtured each other's creations all along
[09:13] Rhiannon Chatnoir: or is it your speakeasy that is acting up can be lag
[09:13] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Marly, i have a symmod area above my hero walk
[09:13] Valibrarian Gregg: How nice, Marly!
[09:14] Zinnia Zauber: Yes!
[09:14] Rhiannon Chatnoir: yes
[09:14] Ludo: The landmark for Hero Walk Aloft is in the twisty thing I just rezzed. The notecard in there is the current notecard from Tooyaa's Hero Walk on Inspiration Island. I can do similar things here.
[09:14] .: . . .
[09:15] Ludo: When you get to the Hero Walk, please go inside and sit on a cushion. Normally you would walk around the colors, but there are too many of you.
[09:15] .: . . .
[09:15] Ludo: Will someone please use the landmark last and tell me when you arrive, so I'll know when to start?
[09:15] .: . . .
[09:15] Rhiannon Chatnoir: you can click on the spiral twist
[09:15] Rhiannon Chatnoir: I can hold up the rear
[09:15] Second Life: Grn-Orng Hero Walk LM, notecard owned by Ludova (quippe.wylder) gave you 'Hero Walk Aloft Information and Landmark'  ( Plush Nonprofit Commons (113,125,22) ).
[09:15] Zinnia Zauber: See you all over there!
[09:16] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): tp fails for me
[09:16] Rhiannon Chatnoir: so click on the spiral, get the landmark and meet everyone over to the Hero's Walk
[09:16] Buffy Beale: here's a slurl too: Aloft Nonprofit Commons (75,213,22)
[09:16] Second Life: Teleport completed from Plush Nonprofit Commons (112,129,22)
[09:18] Marylou Goldrosen: I love these artworks -- dramatic!
[09:18] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Most of them are by Jesz Murakami.  Xeno, are you still here? Xeno is a friend of Jesz.
[09:19] Wisdomseeker (lissena): she is here
[09:20] Ludova (quippe.wylder): If you all sit down, people can cam to see the pictures better
[09:20] Rhiannon Chatnoir: yes am here now
[09:20] Rhiannon Chatnoir: only Thinkerer is left and i left him the landmark in IM
[09:20] Wisdomseeker (lissena): I should say that Tooyaa wanted to be here today but could not stay inworld
[09:20] Wisdomseeker (lissena): I am saving chat for her
[09:20] Zinnia Zauber: Looks wonderful! I will stand and blend in.
[09:21] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Xenoi and Zinnia, either sit or stand between paintings.
[09:21] Ludo: When you touch the Hero Walk pictures from Brown to Blue, only you will see the picture text in local chat. That way several people can walk the walk at once. When I touch the pictures, however, everyone within 20 meters can see the text.
[09:21] .: . . .
[09:21] Ludo: I will touch them now. Each picture has a question to ask yourself. I'll answer those questions for myself in voice and chat. If you'd like to share your answers to the questions, please share in chat. I'll read the answers in voice if we have time.
[09:21] .: . . .
[09:22] Brown: Brown, before the beginning: Your life has just begun. You are comfortable, for all your needs are met, and you are loved for who you are, not what you do.
[09:22] Brown: Doting parents: We love you the way you are. Even now we see that you are meant to be a Hero. We will take care of you.
[09:22] Brown: Ask yourself: Why do I leave safe, comfortable brown for the dangers of the yellow playground?
[09:22] Ludo: I was trying to get from Brown to Yellow at age three and a half. My mother and I were taking a ferry from Detroit to Canada. The ferry whistle was scary. Every time it blew I couldn't help running to mother and hugging her knees.
[09:22] Rhiannon Chatnoir: there are still some seats in the inner circle if you right click on an open question mark and go to "Sit here"
[09:22] .: . . .
[09:23] Ludo: I've treasured that memory and probably distorted it, but I am sure of one thing. I kept walking toward the bow, closer to the ferry whistle, because I wanted to be brave like Mama. When we landed I cried because I hadn't learned to be brave yet.
[09:23] .: . . .
[09:23] Yellow: Yellow, the playground: You are a child discovering that your companions have various approaches to play and life. You are practicing skills you will need, in a safe, supervised playground.
[09:23] Yellow: Tech Kid: Isn't it great that we can play with people all over the world? I wanna be a Linden when I grow up!
[09:23] Yellow: Ask yourself: What are my favorite ways to play? What have I learned from playing?
[09:23] Rhiannon Chatnoir: welcome Frans
[09:24] Marylou Goldrosen: Can't hear?
[09:24] Ludo: One thing I learned from play was patience and  forbearance. I would play cards with my brother and when he lost he would make me play 52 pickup by throwing the cards on the floor. I was six years older, so I had to be patient with him.
[09:24] .: . . .
[09:24] Rhiannon Chatnoir: you can follow along with the text
[09:24] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Marylou you can't hear?
[09:24] Rhiannon Chatnoir: it is the same
[09:25] Rhiannon Chatnoir: and you can try to toggle your voice settings
[09:25] Gray: Gray, the decision: You are a young person of whom great things are expected. You hear the call to be a hero. You make a decision; you refuse! You do not know what kind of hero you are, but you  know you do NOT want the quests that your elders suggest.
[09:25] Gray: Mother: Why are you shaking your head at me? I'm your mother. I know what your talents are. I know what you can do. Why do you refuse my advice?
[09:25] Gray: Ask yourself: What kind of hero do I refuse to be?
[09:26] Ludo: While I was leading Hero Walk in Second Life, I composed a filksong about what kind of hero I refuse to be, to the tune of “Impossible Dream” from the movie Don Quixote. I'll quote the most important lines:
[09:26] .: . . .
[09:26] Rhiannon Chatnoir: oh nice
[09:26] Ludo: For I will not  pretend to have virtues I lack
[09:26] Rhiannon Chatnoir: are you going to sing it
[09:26] Ludo: I will choose my own path and I'll never relinquish the right to turn back
[09:26] .: . . .
[09:27] Buffy Beale: beautiful
[09:27] Purple: Purple, self-discovery: You have doubted the advice of your elders. Now you must discover yourself. So you drift a little, dream a little, look for new guides. The songs you hear talk to you, ask you questions, help you shape your goals.
[09:27] Purple: Rock Star: I sing the songs, I write the lyrics. I ask you three questions, the basic questions of life. Perhaps you will hear my songs and begin to discover the answers.
[09:27] Purple: Ask yourself: Who am I? What am I doing here? Who are all these other people?
[09:28] Ludo: I've already answered the purple questions.
[09:28] .: . . .
[09:28] Red: Red, the challenge: Knowing yourself a bit, you are ready to take your place as an adult in your tribe. Immediately you meet challenge and competition. You must prove yourself worthy of the quest you have chosen.
[09:28] Red: Dragon Judge: I am the Dragon Judge. My eye is on you. You must show me what you are made of, and prove to me that you deserve the support of the tribe.
[09:28] Red: Ask yourself: What is my quest? Why am I the one to accomplish it?
[09:29] Ludo: My quest, my life purpose, is to tell you you're wonderful so skillfully that you'll believe it. That has been my quest ever since a lady said I was sweet when I complimented her. She didn't believe me, but I was six, too young to dare to argue with her.
[09:29] Ludo: I am the one to do it, not because I'm particularly good at it, but because I want to do it. Hero Walk is one of my methods for telling everyone they are wonderful. We are all heroes. Every hero is needed.
[09:29] Sarabell Jansma: :)
[09:30] Chartreuse: Chartreuse, the warning: Your quest has begun. Uncertainties and obstacles loom ahead. You can't do anything about them yet. You can only overhear the voices of doubt and disrespect as others talk about you.
[09:30] Chartreuse: Critic: This one won't make it - too young, too arrogant, not serious enough. When the Black is in sight, this one will turn back.
[09:30] Chartreuse: Gossip: Naw, heroes don't turn back. Sometimes they die, though.
[09:30] Chartreuse: Ask yourself: What warning signs do I see? What keeps me going?
[09:30] Rhiannon Chatnoir: welcome and grab a seat, you can right click on any of the question marks or seats and "Sit here"
[09:31] Rhiannon Chatnoir: thats ok.. :)
[09:31] Ludo: I was warned by the difficulty I had doing my work. There were other warning signs but I was blind to them. I didn't always keep going. Once I went to my boss and said, “Get me out of here.”
[09:31] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): ignoring the warning signs?
[09:32] Wisdomseeker (lissena): wb Xeno
[09:32] Black: Black, loss and search: Disaster strikes! You have lost something vitally important. You are a hero, willing to go through hell to get it back. As you go deeper, you must give up everything that stops you from being yourself and continuing your quest.
[09:32] Black: Burning temple: Hear the wisdom of the Temple of Forgiveness! You do not need your regrets, your worries, your doubts. You do not need old grudges. Leave them behind; burn them. You are forgiven.
[09:32] Black: Ask yourself: What have I lost? What can I afford to give up?  What price will I pay for the pearl of wisdom?
[09:32] Black: Now, touch the pearl.
[09:33] Ludo: I was in black and aqua for 25 years. I had bipolar disorder, rapid cycling with psychotic episodes. No one told me bipolar was incurable, so I kept trying to cure it, and 25 years after I  quit my job I succeeded.
[09:34] Pearl of great price: Pearl of Great Price: the treasure
[09:34] Pearl of great price: ((Everyone finds a different pearl. I put some general wisdom here as a space-filler.))
[09:34] Pearl of great price: Give up hope that your quest will achieve exactly what you wish. Give up hope of fame, fortune, happiness. Gift of wisdom - Be true to your quest, and your heart will find peace, the world will be better for this. (Impossible Dream)
[09:34] Pearl of great price: Ask yourself: What treasure is worth all you have lost in Black?
[09:34] Rhiannon Chatnoir: you can camera in on the pearl
[09:34] Rhiannon Chatnoir: and you can click on any of the colors/images and only you see the text if you want to explore any you missed if you were late
[09:35] Ludo: I didn't just find one pearl, I found a whole necklace of beautiful freshwater pearls, some of them black. My time with bipolar taught me many virtues. I learned to love myself when I still had psychotic episodes. After that I found more pearls.
[09:35] Aqua: Aqua, the triumph: You are sailing home triumphant, scarred and changed, with what you sought, a treasure you can share with your tribe and use to accomplish your quest.
[09:35] Aqua: The Tribe: We see your white sail - we thought you would fail
[09:35] Aqua: Yet you have returned. - what have you learned?
[09:35] Aqua: What will you bring? - what song will you sing?
[09:35] Aqua: Who are you now? - you're different somehow.
[09:35] Aqua: Ask yourself: What are my scars? What treasure can I share with others? What treasure can I use to complete my quest?
[09:36] Ludo: One scar: When I promise to do something I'm always afraid I won't do it, and sometimes I don't. My time in black affected my physical health. One treasure: I invented the Hero Walk in black. I can share that and use it to accomplish my quest.
[09:36] Ludo: I came to Second Life hoping to try the Hero Walk as a role play tool. Instead it grew into a useful tool for self-discovery, self-appreciation, and appreciation of others. I'm proud of my time in green here, though many discount it as play.
[09:37] Green: Green, the elder: Your tribe recognizes your wisdom and experience, and you become a tribal elder. It is time to share your wisdom, and accomplish your goals with the aid of your tribe. They will take all you can give, and expect more.
[09:37] Green: Earth Teacher: I welcome you as a fellow elder, and urge you to use your knowledge, skills and wisdom. Whether you lead, teach, heal or serve in other ways, you will enrich us.
[09:37] Green: Ask yourself: What role will I accept in the tribe? How will I serve? How will I further my quest?
[09:38] Rhiannon Chatnoir: she came into SL initially to use the Hero Walk as a self exploration tool
[09:38] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): tysm, very interesting
[09:38] LV (lorivonne.lustre): play is learning
[09:38] Rhiannon Chatnoir: she is proud of her time in "green" here, but many would say it is play
[09:38] Orange: Orange, the provocateur: Because you survived Black, you are not blinded by tribal law and custom.. You see that the tribe must change to survive, You use your elder influence to counter conservative fear and self-interest. and to give the helpless power.
[09:38] Orange: The Provocateur: Think outside the box! We're boxed in and we need to change. Maybe you are comfortable with the way things are now, but if you do nothing, that comfort won't last long!
[09:38] Orange: Ask yourself: What changes are needed? How will I get those who want change to help? What opposition will I face? How will I convince them?
[09:38] Rhiannon Chatnoir: am paraphrasing what she said
[09:39] Valibrarian Gregg: playbor:  play plus labor
[09:39] John Howard Cassio (sticaatsi): Thank you so much
[09:39] Second Life: Items successfully shared.
[09:39] Rhiannon Chatnoir: join me join us calls us to do something ;)
[09:40] Ludova (quippe.wylder): It calls us to be provocateurs
[09:40] Ludo: In orange I'm trying to convince people of something they often deny, their own worth. I have a song that confronts people who tell me I'm sweet when I compliment them. That's as close as I come to social protest.
[09:40] Namaara MacMoragh: :-)
[09:41] Elli Pinion: :-)
[09:41] Violet: Violet, the jester/fool:  You have exchanged the gag of authority for  freedom of speech. You don't worry about your public image. As Jester your humor makes people think as they laugh. As Fool, you show people where the pits are by falling into them.
[09:41] Violet: Jester: People laugh at me today, but maybe they will think tomorrow. They might even claim my ideas as their own.
[09:41] Violet: Fool: Hey, hey, look this way. Watch me fall into this pit. Ow, that smarts! That wasn't smart. Hey, hey, don't act this way.
[09:41] Violet: Rose Lady: I wear a violet dress and a red hat that doesn't match. I go to every city council meeting and say, "Plant more wild roses!" People laugh. Am I a fool? ITrue story.)
[09:41] Violet: Ask yourself: Could I be a jester? A fool? Both? Can I have more influence if I claim less dignity?
[09:42] Xeno Octavia: who kno diff tween fool an idiot
[09:42] Ludova (quippe.wylder): an idiot thinks the fool is an idiot
[09:43] Ludo: I am both a jester and a fool. I gave a comedy routine to a conference about disability in SL. As far as I know, I didn't insult anyone. Whew.
[09:43] Blue: Blue, centered loving: Your quest is over. Now you have time to know who your really are. You can accept who others really are. You are not idle - you're free to love freely, balancing on the waves, flowing with them to where your love is needed.
[09:43] Blue: Wave Dancers: Surf the wave of life, don't fight it. Keep your balance and let the water move you. Love flows freely. Love is the dance.
[09:43] Blue: Ask yourself: Who am I? What am I doing here? Who are all these other lovable people?
[09:43] Sarabell Jansma: the idiot is aware
[09:43] Rhiannon Chatnoir: you can grab a seat if you just got in, right click on a cushion or question mark
[09:43] Xeno Octavia: Some people confuse the Idiot with the Fool. Those who don’t make
this confusion are the Fool, those who do are the Idiot.
All others are still in Limbo.
[09:44] Xeno Octavia: most all ppls in limbo
[09:44] Rhiannon Chatnoir: Ludova has been going through the quest color/image signs behind us in order and narrating them, but you can click on any of them to get that text to you only
[09:44] Rhiannon Chatnoir: if you want to catch up on any you missed
[09:44] Ludo: I'm in blue now. I have resigned every formal responsibility I had in SL. I have only two commitments left, my ten hours a week for NPC and perhaps writing workshops for Milkwood, using Hero Walk. I spend more time exploring and just talking to people.
[09:44] .: . . .
[09:44] Rhiannon Chatnoir: aww ♥
[09:45] Ludo: Who am I? I could talk for hours about that. What am I doing here? Enjoying myself and caring about people. Who are all these other lovable people? They're all walking the Hero Walk. I want to help them stay on it. We are all heroes.
[09:45] .: . . .
[09:45] Ludo: I'll pause for questions and comments now, and then say something about my future plans for Hero Walk Aloft.
[09:45] .: . . .
[09:45] Wisdomseeker (lissena): I am modeling the cape and tiara you can earn here
[09:45] Rhiannon Chatnoir: cue the David Bowie song "Heroes"
[09:45] Marylou Goldrosen: Yea!!!!!
[09:46] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): Quests are wonderful :) How long did this take you to realize your vision?
[09:46] Rhiannon Chatnoir: how do you earn tiera's and capes
[09:46] Wisdomseeker (lissena): Do not assume therefore that I am truly a maven!
[09:47] Wisdomseeker (lissena): I do dress up well tho
[09:47] Ludova (quippe.wylder): There's a bit of an explanation of earning them in Tooyaa's notecard.
[09:47] Skie (scythe.elfenbeim): lol Wisdomseeker
[09:47] Marly (marly.milena): Explain color palette and meanings, how you derived
[09:47] Skie (scythe.elfenbeim): So modest!
[09:47] Rhiannon Chatnoir: Wisdom, you can't be all that you are, all the time ;)
[09:47] Elli Pinion: :-) Wisdom
[09:47] Rhiannon Chatnoir: hi Thinkerer
[09:48] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Shelenn. I've been thinking about Hero Walk since 1986. I started playing with it in SL in 2006
[09:48] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I don't feel I've realized it yet.
[09:48] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): Congratulations!
[09:48] Elli Pinion: It looks good on you, as well, Stranger!
[09:49] Ludo: Hero stories are cleaned up by bards and writers. Our lives are more complex. The colors of the Hero Walk give us a language for talking about life, situations and personal preferences.
[09:49] .: . . .
[09:49] Ludo: The steps of  the Hero Walk can describe situations as well as life stages. For example, I know a fellow who was born in a black situation. They didn't think he'd live.
[09:49] .: . . .
[09:49] Ludo: So while he was in a brown life stage, he was in a black situation. Now he's in a purple life stage and is still in a black situation. He is having difficulty proving himself to move to Red. He's really a hero.
[09:49] .: . . .
[09:49] Ludo: Another example: I have heard of someone who is in green and orange situations without going through black. He is not mature enough for his position. He may go through black soon.
[09:49] .: . . .
[09:50] Ludo: One of our Hero Walk rituals is called "Seeking your colors." It tells you what situations you're most comfortable with and those that bother you most. This works because I used Luscher colors.
[09:50] .: . . .
[09:50] Ludo: "The Luscher Color Test" by  Max Luscher, was my main source. I used the first eight colors of that test and guessed at the other four. "Seeking your colors" is not a personality test. I'm amazed at how well it works.
[09:50] .: . . .
[09:50] Ludo:  So, using the colorful Hero Walk we can talk about life stages, situations, and personalities. I've found that useful, thinking about my life. I hope others find it useful.
[09:50] .: . . .
[09:51] Sarabell Jansma: yes  true.
[09:51] Ludo: I'd like to hold meetings to explore the Hero Walk, in the ways that are listed in Tooyaa's notecard and in other ways. For example, the twisty things stand for the transitions between life stages. The most interesting stories are about transitions.
[09:51] .: . . .
[09:51] Ludo: I would like to lead writing workshops using the Hero Walk as writing prompts, and collect some stories about transitions, to put in the twisty things. In Non-Profit Commons, I'd like to teach people to be Mavens, leaders using the Hero Walk.
[09:51] .: . . .
[09:51] Ludo: I plan to hold meetings on Aloft and office hours. I'll put notices in Non-Profit Commons about any meetings I hold on Aloft. To get notices of all meetings related to the Hero Walk, join the group "Heroes of Prism."
[09:51] .: . . .
[09:51] Ludo: End of notecard. Questions? Comments?
[09:51] .: . . .
[09:52] Buffy Beale: wow Bravo!
[09:52] Marylou Goldrosen: Luscher colors???
[09:52] Rhiannon Chatnoir: more questions or thoughts on Hero Walk
[09:52] Namaara MacMoragh: Terrific work!
[09:52] Buffy Beale: I love that you're using SL to make the Hero Walk come alive, great work!
[09:52] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Google "The Luscher Color Test". It's not just the title of a book
[09:52] Wisdomseeker (lissena): It is worth going through the steps to become a maven Rhi
[09:52] Rhiannon Chatnoir: i love how you relate it also to your own journey through the colors to explain the various states
[09:52] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): TYVM for sharing :)  An interesting RP "twist". The only flip side of RP in virtual worlds is that in some types of RP, (for some people, the lines between role play and reality become blurred... i am interested in the study of RP of all types.. please drop me a line if you are an expert in RP or would like to share your experience :)
[09:52] Skie (scythe.elfenbeim): A useful set of questions to self-discover aspects of oneself :)
[09:53] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Thank you for that, Rhi
[09:53] Ludova (quippe.wylder): 3
[09:53] Stranger Nightfire: wish I still had my RL set of Lucher color cards
[09:53] Marly (marly.milena): Look up Luscher color test in Wikipedia
[09:53] Wisdomseeker (lissena): I have the book
[09:53] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I'll do that, Shelenn.
[09:53] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I've noticed that they fade, Stranger.
[09:53] Ludova (quippe.wylder): The ccoloor cards do. Mine are very old.
[09:54] Rhiannon Chatnoir: I could almost see this transcending outside of a virtual space too, to be a Heroes Walk card deck of sorts
[09:54] Buffy Beale: yes Rhi!
[09:54] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): good idea rhiannon
[09:54] Ludova (quippe.wylder): That's been suggested, Rhi.  Maybe we can make one.
[09:55] Rhiannon Chatnoir: i have seen some sites for printing decks
[09:55] Rhiannon Chatnoir: are all the artwork on the colors your own?
[09:55] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): yes
[09:55] Stranger Nightfire: of course there are several places you can take the lucher color test online these days
[09:55] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): imprint maybe
[09:55] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Yes, I've done that, Stranger. Quite a while ago.
[09:56] Elli Pinion: Very inspiring and encouraging!
[09:56] Marly (marly.milena): Reminds me of Tarol deck and my friend Julia Turk's trilogy called The Navigator's Dream where a psychiatrist who is drowning ends up in the Tarot world and has to encounter every card in the deck with its lessons.
[09:56] Marly (marly.milena): I could see  something like this for Hero Walk
[09:56] Ludova (quippe.wylder): The artwork. Most of it is Jesz Murakami, Xeno's friend. Four of them I commissioned. I described what I wanted and he painted yellow, red, green and blue.
[09:56] Rhiannon Chatnoir: nod Marly yes
[09:57] Elli Pinion: Artwork really adds to the experience.
[09:57] Rhiannon Chatnoir: yes
[09:57] Ludova (quippe.wylder): BAU Ur did the black art.
[09:57] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I've made a lot of hero walks with different pictures and different text. This is the best.
[09:58] Ludova (quippe.wylder): There are photos of some of the others on a wall on this plot
[09:58] Rhiannon Chatnoir: I am not sure if she is still active in SL, but I think she still has a shop, the avatar Robin Sojourner is a fantasy artist who has done a lot of Tarot decks in RL
[09:58] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): another tool for self discovery that could be realized in a similar fashion in virtual worlds is the old strong campbell interest inventory test... where the results group interests compared to people in life situations or roles with similar interests being the ones you are more likely to be happiest and therefore more sucessful and productive
[09:58] Stranger Nightfire: havn't thought of Bau in a long time
[09:58] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Is somebody timekeeping. Love Robin.
[09:58] Marylou Goldrosen: Great contribution!!
[09:58] Marly (marly.milena): It would be great to have partiipants make their own pictures. We could put them up in our gallery next door!
[09:59] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Shelenn, I took that test and found out I should have been a clinical psychologist.
[09:59] Rhiannon Chatnoir: we are almost at the end, but folks can still get in a few questions
[09:59] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): sounds right ludo lol
[09:59] Rhiannon Chatnoir: and a nat idea Marly
[10:00] Wisdomseeker (lissena): :)
[10:00] Marly (marly.milena): neat? LOL
[10:00] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Yes, Marly, that would be great. If there's interest I can lead a group to re-illustrate the Hero Walk
[10:00] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): my results were atypical puzzling the counselor and my mother lol
[10:00] Marylou Goldrosen: Yes -- contributing our artwork would reveal some hidden discoveries!
[10:01] Rhiannon Chatnoir: for folks interested in Robin Sojourner / Robin Wood in RL, she has a lot of tutorials for SL on her site too https://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/TutorialGate.html
[10:01] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I took the test at age 40, a bit late to discover that I should  have been a clinical psychologist.
[10:01] Marly (marly.milena) whispers: Just had another idea...collaboration...with VOS (my Visions of SElf workshop) where participants do make abstract self portraits. Suppose we linked them up to Hero Walk colors etc
[10:01] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): its never too late
[10:01] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Yes, Marly, that would be great.
[10:01] Rhiannon Chatnoir: ahh interesting, i wonder if your own history helped mold that discovery towards clinical psychology
[10:01] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I'm 79 now.
[10:02] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I went crazy shortly after taking the interest test.
[10:02] Marly (marly.milena): Tee hee. Tomorrow is my 85th birthday.Never too late to Create!
[10:03] Rhiannon Chatnoir: yes! and happy birthday Marly!!!
[10:03] Skie (scythe.elfenbeim): :)
[10:03] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I learnd a lot about psychology from the patient's point of view. I'm not unhappy with my life. Happy  birthday and many more.
[10:03] DJ Shelenn (shelenn.ayres): happy birthday!
[10:03] Wisdomseeker (lissena): Your big celebration is Sunday?
[10:03] Rhiannon Chatnoir: any other questions or thoughts for Ludo
[10:03] Wisdomseeker (lissena): @Marly
[10:03] Rhiannon Chatnoir: make sure to join her group too if interested, what was the name of it again Ludo
[10:03] Namaara MacMoragh: Happy Birthday Marly! :-)
[10:04] Ludova (quippe.wylder): Heroes of Prism.
[10:04] Cale (caledonia.skytower): Congratulations!
[10:04] Marly (marly.milena): Yes (for those who don't know, all my piano music will be performed in a concert Out There and later....we can use the video in here)
[10:04] Marylou Goldrosen: You are a Gem!
[10:04] Ludova (quippe.wylder): I think there's a group joiner at the Inspiration Island hero walk
[10:04] Buffy Beale: wow that's great Marly
[10:04] Rhiannon Chatnoir: if there are any open mic things folks would like to share, you can add those to chat too
