Hi again,

We have used Archivesspace for several years without the public interface.  We would now like to configure it and make it accessible.

Do searches and accesses from the public interface just retrieve and parse the indexed EAD files, or do they also query the database?  Asking because I am deciding whether to use on-prem or cloud systems and want to avoid latency.

Thanks,
Elizabeth

Neither, in fact. The PUI mostly operates by retrieving values from SOLR, which is a separate component from the database meant for full text search and fast retrieval.

A lot of the backend also uses solr, really any view where multiple records are presented probably does.
