Scenario:
A Rockefeller strolls around the Chantilly campus after rubbing elbows
with 150 fellow elites each worth minimum $50 Billion apiece. You
recognize him at once, he is a distinguished gent, tall and handsome,
who controls 65 international banks, 150 global industrial
corporations, and is kissing cousins with Vanderbilts, Pratts and
Mellons. Recently, his sister married into the royal family of England
and his grandmother married an Abdul-Aziz in Saudi Arabia what seems
like ages ago. Most people say his net worth is impossible to reckon,
his being divested into things which require no forms to disclose,
little taxes to pay. He and his friends were at a friendly symposium
together today discussing world events, technology,
national interests, you know... global collusive behavior. And they
are happy and well-fed.
He is chatting with friends energetically and is obviously in very
good spirits. You place yourself strategically in his path and
interupt his conversation. He gleams with pride and does not step
aside when you confront him. In fact, he is surprisingly interested in
what you have to say and engages with you seemlessly. You start to
tell him about why you Occupy and as you do, a twinkle develops in his
eye revealing a genuine interest, even an earnest concern about what
you are saying.
"Yes, what exactly is it you people want?" he implores. "We spoke
about your group last night, but not one of us could really figure out
what we could do that would make you happy, and really, my dear, that
is all we want to do - just make you all happy. What is it you want,
dear? What can we give you? What can we do? After all, I imagine among
us all, we can pretty much do anything at all."
You are disarmed by his candor, and suspicious of his motives, but an
ancient impulse deep inside you says that he is being sincere and that
you can genuinely trust this Rockefeller. His eyes are kind, and his
manners are warm. There is nothing of the snake in him. Somehow you
know deep inside, he is just like you. And the door has opened. Your
heart goes out to him for a moment. The poor man is actually confused.
He and his friends are out of ideas. You can tell. And he doesn't know
how to help you.
....... Well, here's the exercise part... what would you tell him?
This kindly old gentlemen whose friends have been hurting you. What
would you have him do for you?
