Round 12 of Nomicron ended on 2011-03-17 when Goos won Round 12. The game has been in Convention since then. The last game activity was the motion to make Fox a player, which passed on 2011-04-01 with unanimous consent of the existing players Jef (me) and Goos. Good, Fox, and I remain as players per the rules.
I've been on a claude code bender the past few months and made a couple of apps, including rewriting Nomicron as a python flask app running on GCP Cloud Run with a MongoDB Atlas database.
I wanted to see if there would be interest in a Round 13 of Nomicron? I have created a test environment web site at https://test.nomicron.org. It is fully functional for creating proposals and posting on the RFC for comment. I've posted a draft proposal on the RFC that I intend to submit when the round begins and would be interested in any comments. Please sign up and poke around, create drafts, comment on RFC, etc.--I'll approve any player activation requests as they come in.
Public forum integration works, but goes to a test group so it won't show up here, but when (if) the round starts, it will be fully integrated with this group. You will be able to interact with the forum through the web app, email, google groups page, and it will all end up synchronized.
One of the challenges with the prior rounds of Nomicron was keeping up with website automation changes as rule changes came in. There was always a friction with that or favoring manual bookeeping that quickly becomes tedious but easier to maintain. As a developer, I favor automation, and that has mostly been how Nomicron worked.
My intent with this new app is that there could be multiple ways that rule changes get implemented
The ruleset on the test site is a slightly-modified initial ruleset of the last static version of the old website I've found so far (Round 9). I intend to submit a motion to make that ruleset the initial ruleset for Round 13, but any suggestions on modifications would be welcome.
I see that some people are still subscribed to get emails from this group, but I'm not sure if anyone is really getting them. If any of you are interested, please speak up! It would be great to get this going again after the 15 year hiatus.
