Many thanks, David. I discovered the problem was that the program had been blocked. I learned this by right clicking the unzipped program and looking at its Properties. Probably blocked by my anti-virus, or possibly by Win7. In any event I unblocked it, still in Properties, and after that it worked immediately.

Be sure to check the curvature on your airfoil after import. Coordinate
points files are notorious for making lumpy airfoils. You want the
curvature graph to be nice and smooth, not jaggy like this:

i used a java application called javafoil you may have to install java of course and can run it in the browser or as an application. if you dont get it to work or cant find the download (i could not find it anymore at first glance since he has rebuilt it a bit) and are interested i have the functioning java application somewhere in my data trash.

actually the files from the script suggested in the beginning also contain that foil, named marske5, they are identical along the points, obviously from the same source but from there the foil is a bit smoother due to the leading edge which is continuous.

Thank you all for your replies. I am working on a manually drafted plan (old) for an Australian aeroplane, the Corby Starlet. The ordinate tables are provided, but as expected, the resultant curves are very dirty. In order to have a go at them, I needed some sort of authoritative reference. So thank you Mitch.

Did you check Statistics in Airfoil? Press Alt-Window in Airfoil, and you'll see this option. The percentage under Audio should be well under 1%. If not, your neighbour probably bought a new microwave and you have to switch channels in your wireless settings... Happened to may several times.

When spotify starts buffering a new song, the heavy download blocks the airfoil upload for 3 seconds until spotify buffer is full. I can see the airfoil upload is reduced 50% mainwhile and a dropout follows.

can someone share with me where to find "statisitcs" in a Mac OSx . since updating airfoil has been rendered unusable due to the dropouts... can't listen to music like that... If I can't stream at home then why have spotify

Hi, I use the StreamToMe app to stream music from my PC to my iPhone, although there's also StreamToMe for mac. The app for iOs is $2.99, but the StreamToMe app for mac is free. You download the ServeToMe program onto your computer, run it, pick which folders/files to add. You can also have ServeToMe show your iTunes playlists, create a password, etc. StreamToMe is fully accessible with VoiceOver, and ServeToMe is usable with NVDA, at least (I don't use Jaws, sorry). You hit the + button to add folders, it says "Change Library XML" before the iTunes checkbox, it says change password near the password checkbox. I had to have my brother help me to make it so I could stream things over 3g/a different Wi-Fi network, but other than that, I did everything else myself.

I think StreamToMe is also in the AppleVis directory. There are also other apps like FileBrowser, it depends on what exactly you want to do.
One drawback to using StreamToMe, at least for me, is you have to have the computer running anytime you want to use it.
Also, my port for my manual address randomly changes if I restart my computer/have to reset the router, so I have to go in and edit the port number in the app ocasionally.

Airfoil for mac and Airfoil speakers (downloadable on the app store) will do what you want. It will also let you remote control popular apps like VLC etc.
I'm not sure about the accessibility of airfoil on Windows, but on mac it works great!

What I am trying to do is mirror the sounds from my pc to my iPhone. For example, if my screen reader says something, I would like to hear it on my phone as well. If an alert dings on my PC, I would like it on my iPhone as well.

Airfoil does this, yeah. You can set it to stream either audio from a certain app, or audio from all apps including the OS. There's a bit of lag due to airplay, but it's great for listening to stuff like music, movies, books etc.

I have seen software for Linux systems that allows me to send the audio from one system to another over the network, is there such a software (a driver likely) for Windows, specificly XP but Vista and Windows 7 would be best.

I'd like to stream audio (ALL audio, not just mp3s, etc) from my laptop to another computer over the network. I know that Windows Remote Desktop can play audio over the network pretty easily. Is this part of .Net that I could just code a simple app that streams the audio without RD'ing in? I also don't want to run it over an extra physical wire if possible.

I don't know for sure... but here are some thoughts. The difficulty in sending your laptop's audio over lan is that windows does not provide natively a 'channel' or something to listen on that a software developer could use to implement something. In essence, I believe a successful solution has to be either:

From what I understand, this seems like a complicated fare: Try making a fake driver that will support a plethora of inputs (mp3s, surround games and movies, various bitrates and sample rates, simultaneous applications), while also taking care of encoding, transmitting with low latency, receiving on the other end, that works well and is stable with various version of windows, all that with a damn low profit incentive given only a minority of people would be interested to buy it. Sounds like a bad business plan to me.

A few years ago, Creative Labs had a pretty good 'what you hear' channel that applications could record on. I remember playing audio over sound card hardware effect such as reverb and recording it in realtime in my audio software using this "what you hear" channel. Technically, Shoutcast will be able to select this channel as the input and stream all your laptop sound. I don't have a Creative card anymore, so I don't know how well this works nowadays. Plus, I imagine you want to use your laptop's built-in audio, which likely would not have that feature, but an external Creative Audigy might!

This answer is a little late but I figured I'd post it in case someone is looking for a solution in the future. There is a piece of software called Airfoil that has this exact functionality. It also lets you stream to PCs, MACs, Linux, iPhones, iPod Touches, Apple TV, and more.

VLC can be run as a server (on your laptop) and a client (on your HTPC) to stream video or audio. Just use the Media menu (helpfully placed where File menu is in most apps) and select Streaming, then select all the files you want to stream, click Stream and you'll get options of how to stream it.

I have the latest version of the 172 and after the plane loads up, the windows immediately fog up. This all started after I installed the fly with lua plugin. I have deleted the plugin but still have the fogging issue. I have unchecked all glass effects, restarted x-plane, restarted my computer, reinstalled the aircraft all to no avail.

I also love that the fogging is modeled although its a bit different in the real world C172 I am usually flying. I usually experience a lot of this fogging effect after start and during taxi and need to keep wiping the windshield all the time, but almost never once I am airborne.

I flew up to 11k feet, temp at 33 Deg F and the windows fogged up. Open window did not help. Neither did Cabin Heat or Cabin Air or any combination of the three until I got down to 5k feet. Rather frustrating as the mountain scenery was quite beautiful and I was looking for a particular lake I know of.

I am using OpenFOAM in wsl on windows. I have installed ParaView 5.12.1 for the native windows environment. I get an error when I try to open some types of case files. The error occurs for cases where the mesh in polyMesh is in binary format. Ascii format seems to open fine. This error only occurs for files that are in the windows part of the system, so folder locations such as
/mnt/c/Users//airfoil

If I put the case file in the root directory (which on windows would be \wsl.localhost\Ubuntu\home) AND I make sure linux has read/write/delete access (which I give using chmod -R +rwx airfoil/) then Paraview is able to open the case just fine.

I have tried navigating to /mnt/c/Users// and then running chmod -R +rwx airfoil/, but this does not help. It is important for me to be able to open the files even though they are in the windows part of the system.

Hi everyone! I have been analysing a NACA 0012 airfoil on XFLR5. I really like the animated feature that shows the pressure distribution of the airfoil at various angles of attack. This is seen in (2.) in the attached image. I would like to know if there is a way to open (2.) in a separate window? sometimes the pressure distributions go into the graph above it in (1.) . Alternatively, is it possible to delete the above graph so only the animated airfoil remains? I wanted to record this animation and use it in a presentation I'm doing soon.
