Hello,

At first I wish you a happy new year.

I have downloaded the last version and I want to thank you very mush
for it.
I have seen something strange so here am I :)

The ftps is working perfectly (I was afraid I did something wrong when
I saw the message for the address (I pasted an https address to change
it later by ftps) and the message was only talking about ftp and not
ftps.

There is an option to verify the file when it is copied (or moved).
This is a really great idea but It seems strange to me:
I copy a file from 1,4 Gb (VS2010 SP1) from one directory to another
one (same partition)
It takes me 1 minute 16sec. - 1 minute 20 sec. (I made a few tests)
to do the copy (around 20-21 Mb / s). (time before the verification
text is put on the screen and the bar reaches 100%)
The verification takes only 6-7 seconds.
Without the verification, it takes only 40 sec. so is the verification
done during the copy and the text verification is not put in the
correct moment? (or is the verification done on the cache)?

In every case to do a real verification, you should read again the
original file and after that read again the destination file to be
sure that the file are the same (with no cache).
It is how you do it ?
At the moment I compare by content the original and the copy (when it
is an important document) to be sure that it is correct at 100% but if
you do it in the verification it will be really great.

Thank you
Marc

Hi,

I would like to add couple of my remarks, too:

- when you select item, the icon turns preset color, but the item name
doesn't. It turns only if you will add
to the selection other items. It is misleading. For example you have
10 selected items (marked red) but you
can see only 9 because one of them is covered by grey row selector
(with non-red file name).

- the button with arrow on the right side of the breadcrump (beside
refresh button) doesn't work. I think it
should be for unrolling whole folder tree (including special folders
like recycled bin, my computer...,
whitch are hard to accessible other way)

- possibility of grouping files according selected column would be
nice improvement

- possibility of open folder in the new tab from folder bar by
pressing mouse wheel

- when in folder bar "desktop" is selected as a root, discs are shown
in alphabetical order according its
names, better would be in alphabetical order according its letters
(like in WE)

- numbering of tools is 1,2,....,9,0 and others are without numbers

- renaming items also via slow mouse double click would be fine

- in folder bar the signs (+) besides folders are disappearing when
the folder bar is not active. I think
better is if they would be still present. I addition they don't
correspond with folders state (when the
folder is without subfolders, still has this (+) sign)

- I have toolbar containing shortcuts to favorite programs. Moving the
proper file on the program icon could
caused opening the program

- folder bar could be provided with a lock to prevent its changing by
changing tabs

- pop up tooltips (very well done funktion!!) could be in option
limitied for files only or like now for both
files and folders

- possibility of custom selecting of folder bar background color

- problem with wdx plugin: http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/FastFb2.html

- history in quick filter (*.mp3, *.jpg ....)

- using of relative paths in setting of tools location (it is
connected with portable advantage)

Thank you
Milan

Well, ftps is tested only on 3-4 different ftp servers, so glad to hear that is working perfectly.

Verification is done after every file copied. And during copy with verification enabled write cache is not used (WriteThrough). When verifying file Nomad show "verification" copy mode. And verification time is not included in estimated time calculations, so when verifying large file instantaneous speed can drop to 0/sec.

No, original file is not read twice. Instead, while copying hash number is calculated on original. After file is copied, destination file is open for read and hash calculated on destination. Both hashes is compared, and if they are different warning is shown. Remembering that write caching is not used while copying, it should be sufficient guarantee (not 100%, but close to) that file is copied correctly.

Thank you
Marc
