I developed a Blazor WASM app in .net 7. One of the biggest problems is service worker is not always reliable and client version doesn't always get updated. I did a pop-up reminder when a new version is available and ask user to click to refresh, but if user doesn't click there is nothing much I can do.
Looking at the new .net 8 Blazor "auto" mode, where web socket will be used initially to have a fast start-up time but eventually, components will be downloaded to client browser and works as web assembly.
My question then is -- how does the auto mode handle new version update? Does it automatically fetch, download, and update the local version with the newer version if detected, without the traditional web assembly service worker? This would be awesome of course, but I wasn't able to figure out if this is the case.
