Katrina documentary "Hexing A Hurricane" at Canal Place Cinema, July 13th

CANAL PLACE CINEMA - one night only!
Thursday night marks the premiere of the film's Final Cut. Also a
special 12-minute short titled "New Orleanians Plea to DC for Help"
will play that night. The short is composed of locals explaining
directly to the camera why New Orleans needs more federal help - and
deserves to be saved.
HEXING A HURRICANE begins back when life was "normal" in New Orleans -
six weeks before Hurricane Katrina forever changed the landscape of the
city. The film opens with a 9th Ward VooDoo Ceremony asking spirits for
protection from dangerous storms. After the ominous hurricane strikes a
few weeks following the VooDoo service, the film follows locals on a
roller coaster ride of despair, tragedy and hope.
Featuring Chris Rose (Times-Picayune), Harry Anderson, Irvin Mayfield,
Angela Hill (WWL TV), Garland Robinette (WWL radio, 870 AM), Voodoo
Priestess Sallie Ann Glassman, and the people of New Orleans just
before and right after Hurricane Katrina.
"Levees.org" by Christopher Brown will also play at the show. His film
documents a memorial service for victims lost in Hurricane Katrina. See
organizers drop over 1500 flowers into the Seventeenth Street Canal,
each flower representing a victim of Hurricane Katrina.
