Friends,

After a meeting with Marci Schramm, director of French Quarter
Festivals, Inc., she expressed interest in getting pictures of this
year's festival. If you have pictures, and would like to give them to
the staff that made the event possible, please email us.

Don't forget we have free weekly swing dance lessons Sundays at DBA at
4:30pm and Wednesdays at the Spotted Cat at 5pm. Our next 4-week
series starts on Monday May 31 and Tuesday June 1; we now have six
sessions to choose from. Have fun.

WHAT IS THE SHIM SHAM?
The Shim Sham routine was created by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant in
1927 uses four popular steps of the period: the Shim Sham, the
Pushbeat and Crossover, the Tackie Annie or Tack Annie, and the Half
Break. In the late 1920s and the 1930s, at the end of many
performances, all of the musicians, singers, and dancers would get
together on stage and do one last routine: the shim sham. Tap dancers
would perform technical variations, while singers and musicians would
shuffle along as they were able. Email nolajitte...@gmail.com to
