SiemensIndustrial Edge (IE) is an open, ready-to-use edge computing platform, with edge devices, edge applications (apps) and connectivity through an integrated app and device management infrastructure. It allows you to easily connect, manage and operate globally distributed edge installations, with your own or the diverse apps available through the Industrial Edge Marketplace.
The Industrial Edge Ecosystem is for your implementation and usage, if you are an industrial producer or machine producer. You can connect, create, deploy and scale your industrial use case using the Industrial Edge platform in combination with apps, devices and solutions from the Industrial Edge Ecosystem. You may also develop your own apps and deploy them via the Industrial Edge Management.
A wide range of Industrial Edge devices makes it easy to deploy edge computing in your production environment: You can use SIMATIC controllers and HMIs with integrated edge functionality, use IPCs and virtualized systems, and obtain certified edge devices from our Industrial Edge Ecosystem partners.
Customers can develop and deploy their own apps, or buy ready-made apps and existing connectivity from the catalogue on the Industrial Edge Marketplace. These apps from Siemens and Ecosystem partners work for more than 90 % of automation systems.
Improve how you design parts, assemblies and sheet metal. Solid Edge capabilities include automated drafting, exploded view creation, animation, advanced rendering and simulation. And with our unique synchronous technology, you can focus more on engineering and design concepts, not your software.
Access to topic-based or project-based tutorials, online self-paced courses and interactive learning resources. Training materials can be used to learn Solid Edge on your own, or to supplement classroom learning. Students can also achieve Solid Edge Certification, a competitive edge when applying to jobs.
Access our online Solid Edge User Community for tips and tricks and to connect with other Solid Edge experts. Learning Solid Edge also gives you the opportunity to participate in a variety of projects and competitions, including the Greenpower Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition.
Siemens Digital Industries Software also offers a University Edition that includes more capability for a site-wide implementation. Instructors should visit Solid Edge Resources for Educators for details.
Solid Edge Certification is achieved through an online exam that tests the skills and knowledge of professionals and students who are experienced users of Solid Edge software. Solid Edge certification enhances the competitive edge and reputation of both users and organizations, and provides an industry recognized credential that both professionals and students can use to enhance their careers.

First year university/college students and secondary- school students who have learned Solid Edge through an introductory engineering technology class, or participated in a STEM competition team such as FIRST Robotics, Greenpower or Formula Student, are encouraged to take the Solid Edge Mechanical Associate Level exam. This certification demonstrates that you have a firm grasp of the knowledge required to create basic mechanical design models.
This exam tests basic knowledge of the Solid Edge user interface, sketching tools and techniques, part modeling, assembly and drawing creation. A basic understanding of each environment and respective commands and features is needed to pass this exam.
Industry professionals who use Solid Edge and University and Technical College students who have learned Solid Edge through a college level engineering technology course or have used Solid Edge during an internship within industry, are encouraged to take the Solid Edge Mechanical Professional level exam to differentiate themselves in the engineering field. This certification demonstrates that you have of the knowledge required to create professional mechanical design models, as well as proficiency in more advanced techniques.
This exam tests a working knowledge of the user interface, Synchronous part and sheet metal modeling commands and techniques, assembly commands and relationships, as well as drawing view creation and annotations. A more advanced understanding of each environment and their essential commands is needed to pass this exam.
Solid Edge users who have been actively designing products within industry and have mastered advanced modeling techniques are encouraged to take the Solid Edge Mechanical Expert level exam. This certification demonstrates that you have obtained a high degree of proficiency with Solid Edge mechanical design capabilities.
This exam tests advanced knowledge of the user interface, synchronous, ordered part and sheet metal modeling commands and techniques, assembly commands and all assembly relationships, as well as drawing view creation, detailing, and annotations. An advanced understanding of each environment is needed to pass this exam.
Hello, Im currently doing a project of trying to create an HMI that can be connected and send data to the cloud. Im trying to the project in one of my universities pressure process control trainer and it uses siemens S7-1200 PLC. I am also using Opto 22's Groov EPIC PAC to do this. I already tried connecting the PLC with the groov via ignition edge however it only shows the dianostics of the plc but not the tags. I saw in some the forum page, and i read some forum pages that said that I need to manually configure the tags. Can someone further elaborate on this? Note: I will be using groov view to make the HMI and sync the tags there via the OPC UA ignition edge server.
