Monday, February 18 is Teacher Conference Day – there is no school for students.  If you haven’t signed up for a conference, you may still contact your child’s team online or by phone and catch up at another time, but most teams have filled all their times already.  If you must speak to a teacher or team on Monday and don’t have an appointment, call the office to find out if there are any time slots left.

It’s Book Fair Week!  Thanks to all of you who’ve volunteered to assist with the Fair.  While you’re having your conference, please stop by and do a little shopping – you’ll support our school while enriching your personal library.  Your child will have a time to visit the Fair this week as well, so sending a little extra spending money would be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to supply our teachers with meals on Monday during conferences.  Please bring your donations to the Main Office Monday morning.  If you have questions about this, please contact cin...@aol.com.

If you’re not having your conference on Conference Day, please make sure to complete the Comprehensive School Survey that your child brings home (and ask for one if it isn’t in a backpack).  This survey helps our Superintendent and School Board make global decisions about the future of JCPS, and Dr. Berman is anxious to know what parents think.  The surveys are due back to school by THIS THURSDAY, February 21.

From Dr. Sayre:  Nominate an American Star of Teaching by March 31

The U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative is calling for nominations for 2008 American Stars of Teaching through March 31, 2008.  Parents, students, colleagues, school administrators, and others can nominate exemplary teachers from across the United States who are improving student achievement, using innovative strategies in the classroom and making a difference in the lives of their students.  Teachers across all grade levels and disciplines will be honored as 2008 American Stars of Teaching this fall.  http://www.ed.gov/teachers/how/tools/initiative/index.html
