I use Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol keyboard and VSTs with Reaper- Reaper keeps freezing/crashing every 5 minutes and I have to open task manager to stop it and then restart- I can't work like that obviously.

If you are using the latest V3 of Komplete Kontrol and you do not have an MK3 S series keyboard (if you have an MK2 S series, A series or M series) then try revert back to v2 of Komplete Kontrol. Likely that will run fine.

@karsai What happens exactly? Can you give a step by step description until the crash? Does Kontakt in standalone crash as well? What is your operating system? Does it happen with every library? Have you carried out these steps already? Kontakt Crashes

I did not try with Kontakt, but KK did it all the time as the original poster describes. OS win 10. Other instruments (I checked) did not do this. KK did this even before choosing an instrument. In few seconds it just hung up freezes and stay that way. This did not happened in Cakewalk and also KK standalone works fine. I checked and this issue is not what the Kontact crashes are listing. It seems running KK as separate processes in Reaper helps somewhat. I have m32 keyboard so that is not a problem. I also donot know how to revert the old version of KK. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. The links are very useful to understand what is going on. I tried the "run as dedicated process" with Komplete Kontrol and this helped and the Reaper did not freeze. I hope this will work also for larger projects. Thanks again! IStvan

Note: I've still 25 days before I need to decide to send the S88 Mk3 back to the music store or not. The out-of-the box experience was far from smooth and will use the customer support directly to report all issues...

I had the same problem before, but run as dedicated process is working for me. You have to right click komplete kontrol before you load it and then choose that option. See above a screenshot in this thread. I do not have mk3 and have 32 GB memory, so our systems are different, but for me this saves Reaper crash.

One more thing. many player instrument (deft lines, cloud supply) seems crash reaper if you choose a preset from the preset browser. This might be a KONTAKT issue, I reported this, but no solution for that emerged I know of. A workaround that worked for me is: do not use the browser. Load the instrument first and browse preset there directly within the instrument. In this case I did not observed crash

I own Komplete Select but I realized I did not have most of the Komplete Start plugins, so I tried to add it to my account by clicking the "Get Komplete Start" button. I'm not sure if it worked or not, but I definitely don't see any mention of new softwares to install in my "not installed" tab in Native Access.

I have another question, kind of unrelated but I might as well ask: are there any differences between KOMPLETE 12 SELECT and KOMPLETE 12 SELECT for HW ? I ask because I have both but only activated KOMPLETE 12 SELECT for HW, in case it was the same thing as KOMPLETE 12 SELECT. Same question between Blocks Base for KOMPLETE and Blocks Base: are they the same product? For the moment I only activated Blocks Base for KOMPLETE.

This article in our Knowledge Base would breakdown where to find what. Some instruments are part of the Kontakt Factory Selection or the Reaktor Factory Selection and would appear as such in Native Access

If you obtained licence by clicking "Get Komplete Start" it should appear at your NI User Account. And you should copy Licence Key from there to Native Access. After that plugins should show up as Uninstalled in NA.

Difference between K12S and K12S for HW (BB and BB for KOMPLETE) is not in what they include (it is the same), but in licencing scheme. The first is standalone, for the latter one needs to own given HW.

Ok so I think I already added Komplete Start some time ago, but forget about it. I can see some products like "Komplete Start - Supercharger" or "Komplete Start - Kinetic Treats" on my NI User Account.

However, when I check what is included in Komplete Start, it is supposed to include stuff like Lazerbass or Carbon 2, Space Drones, New Schools, etc, for example, and I don't have any of these. You can see the full explanation about what Komplete Start contains here: -instruments.com/fr/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/included-products/

I don't have any other theories for why I only have some instruments of Komplete Start and it's impossible to add Komplete Start again to get the others when I try to click on the "Get Komplete Start" button...

I guess majority of plugins is included under Komplete Start Licence Number and only later additions (or whatever) have separate Licence Number. If you want to have all KS plugins in NA, you have to add to NA KS licence number and all additional (starting Komplete Start - ).

I'm considering on buying a maschine + to get the work out of the studio. I make different stiles of music and usually I like to use classical instruments sounds like the ones that comes with komplete. It will be possible to work with them on maschine+?

Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment. Most of NI' s expansions will work with Maschine+ in standalone mode and some Kontakt instruments were ported for Maschine+. The Rest of Komplete Instruments won' t work, especially no 3rd party libraries.

Note also that some available instrument eat a lot of CPU. As example a lot of Massive presets on M+ eat 20% of CPU when loaded and 5% to 10% more when played (so it can go up to 30%, and it is worse with Reaktor presets). And actually audio glitches happen around 75% of CPU...

Ya there needs to be a huge disclaimer about this... After paying $1400 for M+ I then spent another $500 on Komplete 13 only to find most (almost all) of the instruments can't be used with M+ in standalone. I thought it would work the same as when used as a Midi controller. Basically only the expansions work. I can't even load expansions into all 8 banks without overloading the CPU on M+. Disappointment after disappointment...

Thanks to all, with the sum of all your answers I think can make my decision. If I get that it will become a sketch book and I like the idea, but maybe it's better to wait a little and see if NI issues another version with more RAM, more compatibility and the possibility to put an internal SDD like in the akai mpc live II ( I don't like so much USB way). Right now I feel it's not a serious tool for my way of work.

The inability to load my other NI Komplete (and encoded third-party) libraries is the main reason I'm holding back from upgrading from mk3 to Maschine+. I hope this is something they find a way to do soon.

I'm just completing a very long tutorial and now I understand its potential and to be honest, I recognize that I'm the limiting factor, not M+ with its thousands of samples, presets, multiple synth engines, plugins and so on. Of course this is my personal insight and any investment independent from vendor / manufacturer is good for music sector and its development. So just buy what makes you happy and don't forget 'OR' is the wrong decision parameter. 'AND' is the right one. ?

Thanks DeepThumb, I don't know so much about timing in this products, my instruments usually are a lot much older than me (and I'm not exactly young). I'm sure it's gonna be a lot of fun if I finally get it, but I would love the possibility to have an entire high quality orchestra in my hands when I'm out of the studio. I agree with you that the M+ is more powerful than I can imagine 'cause I'm also a limiting factor. Maybe it's a good idea to get it as a challenge!

The Autosampler lets you sample anything that uses midi input. Including, all of your external instruments. Imagine being able to play every VST, Drum Maschine, Synth, etc. that you own all on one piece of equipment away from your DAW.

For example, when I open preferences in Komplete Kontrol and go to "Plug-ins" I can see Komplete Kontrol has recognized the ARP 2600 V3 plug-in. But when I go to the "Library" tab of the KK preferences, it doesn't show the library for the ARP 2600. But then I go to my hard drive, /library/Arturia/ARP 2600 V3/Third Party/Native Instruments/presets they are all there. I have tried reinitializing the Komplete Kontrol database by deleting komplete.db3 and favorites.db3, and uninstalling and reinstalling the ARP 2600 from the Arturia Software Center. No luck. Some of my Arturia synths are showing up no problem, and others aren't.

I can manually add the libraries to the "user" section and they work, but of course then I have to switch back and forth between factory and user, which isn't how it should be for what are factory presets!

Some of the Arturia presets don't work (the interface comes up and it even shows on the little picture of the Wurlitzer which keys I'm pressing on my keyboard but it doesn't make any sound). Others do work, not sure if there's a pattern to which do and don't.
