Will Rhaenyra ever sit on the Iron Throne? We may or may not find out this Sunday when the season two finale of House of the Dragon premieres on HBO and Max. Also premiering this week on the channel is a new documentary, Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, in which over 40 hours of never-heard-before interview tapes of the actress were turned into a feature-length film where she describes her life in her own words.

On Apple TV Plus, the true story of a young FBI rookie who took down a Mexican drug cartel is the basis for the new docuseries Cowboy Cartel, which is out on Aug. 2, and on Starz, you can tune in to the season one finale of the travelogue Down In The Valley on Aug. 2.

It's been a big summer for new SpongeBob content on streaming. Paramount Plus already released it's new series, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, on July 10, and this week on Netflix, a new moving taking place in the SpongeBob Universe arrives. Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie will take Sandy and SpongeBob to Texas to rescue their friends when Bikini Bottom is snatched from the ocean. Settle in to meet Sandy's family when the film arrives on Aug. 2.

The last few episodes of the latest season of Too Hot To Handle arrive on Netflix this week, and with them comes the thrilling conclusion of who was able to abstain from any sort of kissing, touching or sex the longest. Yes, the show about "naughty nymphos" (Netflix's term, not mine) trying to hold out in order to win a cold, hard cash prize (and maybe form an actual relationship with someone) will air the final three episodes of the season this Friday, Aug. 2.

The new Apple TV Plus docuseries Cowboy Cartel (so close and yet so far from Beyonc's recent master work Cowboy Carter!) tells the story of a real-life FBI investigation into a money laundering scheme associated with horse racing which turned deadly after the criminals behind it are revealed to be a Mexican drug cartel, Los Zetas. The four-episode series drops in its entirety on Aug. 2.

The dragon wars and the battle between former BFFs Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) are about to end (jk, they're really just beginning) on House of the Dragon. The HBO series concludes season two on Sunday, Aug. 4 with a fiery episode that will most definitely leave us scratching our blonde wigs and wondering who's in charge of the Seven Kingdoms. Not to worry, we'll find out eventually now that season three has been greenlit. You can catch the season finale on HBO and Max at 9 p.m. ET.

In 1964, Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor was interviewed by journalist Richard Meryman, and those tapes have been turned into a new documentary that provides an intimate look at the actress's career, personal life, and personality. Elizabeth: The Lost Tapes premieres on Saturday, Aug. 3 on HBO and Max.

Fry, Bender, Leela, and the rest of the characters from Futurama are back for another season of Hulu's revival of the beloved series that was originally created for Fox by Matt Groening. The new season, which consists of ten new episodes and stars most of the same voice actors (including Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Billy West and Tress MacNeille) who starred in the original show, premieres on July 29.

After it's success at the box office earlier this spring, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the fourth film in the latest series reboot, heads to Hulu on Aug. 2. For the completists out there, all nine of the previous Planet of the Apes films are also on Hulu, from 1968's Planet of the Apes to 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes.

The season finale of the Starz travel and culture series Down In The Valley airs on Friday, Aug. 2, concluding the first season of a show that has exposed some of the lesser-known sides of the Deep South. P-Valley star Nicco Annan hosts the series which looks at the "fascinating duality of the Deep South from a kaleidoscopic marginalized lens," per Starz. After Friday's season finale, Starz will also run an end-of-season marathon on their broadcast network on Aug. 9, and all episodes will be available to stream.

Next week marks the beginning of a new month, so be sure to familiarize yourself with all the exciting new arrivals scheduled for July 2024. Recently, we received updates about several new titles. Check out our comprehensive list to stay informed about all the upcoming releases.

Finally, ending on another superhero title, we come to The Flash, the big-budget DC movie that ultimately is one of the last movies that bookmarked an entire era at DC, with James Gunn now running the show.

As a final footnote: Yes, this movie features George Clooney for a matter of seconds, and that has justified our use of that image as our featured one. Sorry if you got your hopes up for another Clooney movie!

Since premiering last Friday, Trigger Warning has been atop of the Netflix movie top 10s in the US all week after a pretty good start in viewership last. Next up is Home, which continues to be a consistent performer in the top 10s of DreamWorks.

Of course, not all of those new titles are for everyone. There are several international Netflix releases and new documentaries coming next week, for example, that I suspect will have minimal if any appeal here. On the other hand, these are three new Netflix releases that I definitely will be watching next week, starting with one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

First, there's "Eric", which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as a puppeteer and children's show host Vincent, whose son goes missing. He soon spirals into instability when he becomes convinced his puppet Eric can help save his son.

Also new on Netflix this week is the Zara Larsson vehicle "A Part of You", which follows Agnes, a teen who's envious of her popular older sister Julia. She's forced to re-evaluate her social standing after a tragedy and reinvents herself while staring down how her choices have changed her life.

This dystopian thriller follows two sisters who have been long hoping to find stardom as part of the long jump sport. But in a future where athletes rely on bionic augmentations to help them perform in sports, the sisters' once friendly rivalry devolves into something more disturbing as they view to be the best. This Brazilian cyberpunk-esque thrill ride is a suspenseful look at what it takes to be the best, and whether some have it or not.

How far would you go for fame? This three-part documentary series explores that question in terms of TikTok dancers who join a cult-like management firm that has them turning their backs on their families and friends. The 7M management company, also a church, is something decidedly more sinister, as a girl named Miranda and a slew of other dancers seem to be falling into its clutches more and more every day, despite insisting they're "fine" under the tutelage of pastor Robert Shinn.

This six-episode miniseries stars Benedict Cumberbatch as puppeteer Vincent, creator of beloved kids' show Good Day Sunshine. After his son Edgar ends up missing after going to school, Vincent becomes slowly delusional and volatile as he begins to believe this 7-foot-tall puppet Eric can help him find Edgar. This '80s-set thriller explores Vincent and how quickly the line between reality and fiction begins to blur as his mental state rapidly declines after losing Edgar.

Harriet Manners (Emily Carey) is an awkward teenager who thinks she's meant to stay behind the scenes all of her life. That all changes when she's scouted by a modeling agency during a trip to London Fashion Week. Soon, Harriet must navigate the ups and downs of high school and the fashion world while learning she may have been born to stand out instead of remaining a wallflower, after all.

Agnes (Felicia Maxime) has been living in the shadow of her popular older sister Julia (Zara Larsson) for too long. That all changes one day after a terrible tragedy. When Agnes must change everything she knows about herself in a quick reinvention, she's finally able to live the life she's always wanted. But she soon realizes that nothing is without consequence as her decisions come back to haunt her soon enough.

"Colors of Evil: Red" (PL) (Netflix Film)
A chilling murder at a Tri-City beach exposes a criminal underworld, testing the courage of a prosecutor and a grieving mother seeking answers.

"Geek Girl" (GB) (Netflix Series)
Awkward teen Harriet has always wanted to fit in. Until she gets scouted by a top London model agent and learns that some people are meant to stand out.

"A Part of You" (SE) (Netflix Film)
A teenager struggles to pick up the pieces of her shattered world in this emotional and bittersweet coming-of-age drama about those who are left behind.
