What resources (books, talks, projects) have JavaScript developers on this list used to learn C/C++?

It's starting to seem particularly relevant due to NodeJS/V8 and WASM source -> target compilation.

For an experienced programmer you can't go far wrong with the classic
text by Kernighan & Ritchie. Its a great tutor of the C language and
style. Unfortunately its a tad light as a reference on the standard
library functions. For that I'd recommend something like "C The
complete Reference" by Schildt.

C++ is really a completely different animal with very different
idioms even though the language syntax is more or less a superset
of C. For that I like the "C++ Primer" by Lippman and "Effective C++" by
Myers. Both are in multiple editions so be sure to look for
the most recent versions. (OTOH the slightly older version go
for pennies on Amazon Marketplace and aren't exactly irrelevant
they just don't explain all of the latest features.).

Caveat: I learned C/C++ a long time ago and have over 30 years
experience whereas my Javascript skills are much more limited
and I'm still a basic intermediate level. But I've not seen
anything in JS so far to change my recommendations.

I think this tutorial is awesome, especially for beginners, I was reading it the other day to refresh my C++ knowledge and learned a couple of new things lol.

Lynda.com has a nice video course -- "C++ Essential Training" with Bill Weinman; it's ten hours and covers a lot of ground.
