It's that time of year again :)

We're returning to Walker Creek Ranch for another unconference on node.js. All the details, and pictures from last year, are up at:

http://www.nodeconf.com/

Tickets are available now. You can purchase a ticket with a bed in a shared room or choose to bring your own tent and sleeping bag and get a reduce rate "CampOut" ticket. Significant others and kids are also welcome, just register them for the relevant SO ticket for a small fee (10 - 30 dollars). And we're running a shuttle up to the camp from SF twice on the 4th.

We've talked about it on NodeUp a few times but SummerCamp is the most important conference/meetup related thing we do. While NodeConf is great and a tremendous effort by all those involved, SummerCamp is where we get together and figure out the direction that node.js needs to go and we really need input from a wide range of people, including newcomers, so I can't encourage people enough to come out and join us.

Haha, it's worth mentioned that this is foursquare the playground game and *not* foursquare the app for you iPhone :)

I hope we play ultimate frisbee again. Where can I get tournament
weighted disks as node themed schwag?

You want the 175 Ultra-Star from Discraft. It's the official ultimate disc*.

* A few years ago Wham-o started producing new ultimate discs that were approved by the UPA, but they're slightly different and not nearly as popular.

Any tips on where to stay and hangout in SF before and after summer camp. Would be coming for the UK and might take a week.

Oh boy I wish this was in the cards for me this year. Camping & node: the only downside is
having to come back to the real world after.

I'll be doing likewise Duncan,

My plans are to hopefully spend a day or two at some start-up somewhere pairing with somebody on something and hopefully learning something (if anybody is interested in having me let me know)

Apart from that, I can recommend hanging out at wine bars, more wine bars, wine bars and more wine bars - that might just be me, where to stay is a matter of taste but SF is full of cheap hostels and motels and given that you'll spend most of your time out it's not worth spending on a real hotel ;)

If you want to hang out at some point during the week, I'm up for it, if Nodejitsu want to organise another evening of trampoline dodgeball perhaps....

It's an un-conference, which means that it'll be decided ad-hoc, there isn't really an up front agenda/schedule save from 'turn up on this day' and 'leave on this day'

The best thing about this event is that it's chilled, small, and more about the discussion and meeting folk than having uni-directional talks

At least, that's how I saw it anyway
