Newsfeed population in realtime using NodeJS and Socket.io

I am new to NodeJS and also to Socket.io. My goal is to create a real-time newsfeed application using Socket.io.

Can anyone help me to get started with this. I just need an overview of the important things to understand how I should go about creating this application.


 P.S. - Links to relevant tutorials will also be extremely helpful.

What you're asking is pretty vague, so it's hard for anyone to give specific feedback -- what a "realtime newsfeed application" is, I think, is pretty wide.

I bet if you refine what you're talking about you'll get more traction to get help.
