What: Very informal meetup for Node.js face-to-face get together right
here in Buenos Aires.

Inspired by: Thread on Noders in Argentina

When: This coming Friday, what the hell. So, Jun 24 at 6:30pm (24/6
18:30hs)

Where: "MEETING PLACE" (really, that's the name of the bar!) at
Lavalle 1601 (corner Montevideo). They have Wi-Fi and we can meet
upstairs which is usually pretty deserted.

Google Map:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Lavalle+1601,+Ciudad+Aut%C3%B3noma+de+Buenos+Aires,+Argentina&aq=0&sll=-34.602128,-58.40023&sspn=0.112896,0.133724&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Lavalle+1601,+San+Nicol%C3%A1s,+Ciudad+Aut%C3%B3noma+de+Buenos+Aires,+Argentina&ll=-34.603117,-58.389416&spn=0.058214,0.066862&z=14

Everyone just speak naturally in either English or Spanish, whatever
is more comfortable.

Anyone in Argentina far from Buenos Aires, we can beam you in on irc
or skype or something.

Really looking forward to meeting others interested in or working with
node.js in Buenos Aires!

Hi Victor,

Awesome idea, as I was planning to travel to Buenos Aires either
wednesday or thursday. So count me down. If you can write down my
email (mgiglesias at gmail dot com) for organizing the specifics
that'd be great.

Seriously I don't understand why we are discussing this in english...
I know people who would like to meet but they don't read this group mainly because of the language.

Los invito al reciente grupo de Node en Argentina, me parece mejor hablarlo ahi y en castellano! https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/nodejs-ar

We are discussing this in English because nodejs is an English spoken
google group. If you wish to take this to spanish, then you should
take the discussion elsewhere.

I don't think I like having to sign sign up to LinkedIn to discuss
this further. If anything, we can take this privately through regular
emailing.

I am so excited about meeting everyone, and the perspective of node.js
face to face! This impromptu Buenos Aires meetup is going to be
awesome! See everyone Friday!

@Rambo, dude, one of the things that will probably emerge is a Buenos
Aires spanish speaking or bilingual list to widen the discussion,
etc., absolutely, but @mariano is right about that subject not having
anything to do with this centralized list.

hehe... right only been down here 35 years or so... :)

@Pablo, @Fernando
Claro, sólo tengo 35 años viviendo aquí en Buenos Aires (aunque tengo
familia en San Diego y cada tanto visito). Pero contrario de lo que
uno podría llegar a creer, la verdad es que hablo "cada día mejor".

Saludos,

Victor

I would like to meet everyone but I think a place near Palermo could be more accessible to everyone. I really hate the city centre!

I disagree. Using my experience with other groups, the city center is
a more reachable spot. Palermo may have a lot of snappy-neighborhood
names but it's quite disconnected from the rest of the city.

I propose staying with Victor's original suggestion.

Here's a crazy thought: if you are not going to the meeting, then your
opinion on where to host it shouldn't matter.

Crazy huh?

:)

Joking aside, I am ok with whatever location you guys choose. I'm
travelling 450 kms so an extra 10 won't hurt me.

I propose to stay with Victor's suggestion because he started the
idea, and I don't like changing venues when the meeting is only a day
away.

Well, I live in San Telmo, so I don't see how Palermo is any more
convenient for me. As for the city center sucking like hell, I must
not be part of everyone because I don't have any problem with the city
center. It's just another barrio.

As long as the neighborhood is relatively safe and accessible, it's
largely irrelevant. More important is the location itself: decent
wireless, not too loud, room for everyone, open at the right times,
and, one would hope, having a decent selection of beers.

From what I could gather that place has been used as a venue for a
Drupal meetup. Probably because Victor proposed it as well?

If so what's your experience with the wifi there?

I agree with Chas. Wifi (and beer availability) is essential to the
success of this gathering.

Hi there! Yes, the neighborhood is safe and easily communicable (you
can take the 102 bus straight back to San Telmo, we'll walk you to the
bus stop after the meetup!

Why the Drupal Community used to meet there is because the wifi is
just fine, and the upstairs part is practically deserted, so it's easy
to put some tables together and have a great meetup.

There are several beers to choose from, on that score we should be
fine.

Looking forward to meeting you on Friday!

Neuquen would be great!!! My wife has two of her daughters living in
Bariloche, so we often visit down there, so in the not-too-distant
future, Neuquen NodeCamp here we come.

Let's hope the volcanic ash will have dispersed by then :)

I don't think you are the only one, but I also don't think it'd be a
problem if you get 30' late.
